Hi guys.

Just got back from Nottingham. The John Lewis there had 1st gen Ipad 16gb for £275. Bargain if you're happy with the older model.

32gb was £325 I think.

Update: After a lengthy discussion with the store in question the price was for 'Open Box' product. Normal warranty applies. 16gb for £275, 32gb for £325.

Intrestingly, thats what the POS said at Notts.
However the actual cabinet that held the stock was reduced further with an official red John Lewis label.

No chance of a price match with Notts?

Still £329 on line.

Strong words.

Believe me, I wouldn't waste my time (or yours) with a fabrication.

From what you and another poster has said, it seems that Nottingham have decided to reduce the price further. I'm sure the next comment will be a request for photo evidence.

Have you tried ringing Notts to confirm?

Fine expire the deal, your loss not mine.

Why has this expired? I want

Expired due to the narrow minded people who, just because a deal is not local to them or have their own Ipad deal, shout FAKE

If it really was £275 that's a really good price. If you could upload a pic of the receipt then other members may be able to use it at other JL stores so they can get a pricematch.

Cheers

Red ticket means it's been reduced due to a return or ex display.

Didn't buy myself as holding out for 2nd gen on the 25th.
So no reciept, but if anyone is interested by all means give Notts a ring.

They were new unopened stock, I'm assuming the manager is trying to beat the rush and clearing out high priced items off his stock file.

Prove they was £275 and mods will unexpire I called nottingham branch and they said £329

Could be easily proved with a phone call to the store on question.

Look, I won't be proving anything. At what time did you ring Notts, considering they close at 6pm.

Troll.

I thought you called Notts?

Bluewater wouldn't be able to check if there was a reduction authorised by a manager. They will be just going off the stock price which is £329 (as per online).

Anyway, I'm off now as its quite obvious that we won't be able to corroborate anything till the store reopens tomorrow.

Ashtad, good luck tomorrow in the quarter final. you'll need it.

i believe you mate dont worry.

Just get a 32 gb version for £340 from the Refurb Store like I did this week . you dont need the two lower than an iphone 4 cameras or the slightly faster processor and you wont appreciate the non Retina display or mono speaker either and if a few ounces of weight really is a 'great drop in clumsiness' as is the coupla mils thinness extraa .... then please .. no ... just save yerself £160 and wait til the iPad 3 .. later in the year .. now .. that should gerrem shouting~!
Seriously tho' .. I did get a Refurb iPad 1 and its like new. And flies along. Its fantastic piece of kit but not worth £500 ... its half a laptop at the end of the day .. admittedly a small laptop with reduced features .... but less than £350 definitely a great wee instant-on Net browser and media device ....

I'm not saying I don't believe you it's just all other John Lewis stores are selling at £329 just seems very strange ;)
#30
Normally if a store online charges £329 same price in store.
#31
I can't see the problem with scanning the reciept and posting it. You can see why people could doubt the price.

Even if someone phones Nottingham branch and they say £329 you will still declare your innocence. So post the receipt as proof??
#32
Not always I believe the OP just because one store did this doesn't mean all the stores will. The OP posted up something he saw and though others could benefit from. Until someone speaks to a person in the store mentioned or actually goes into the store you can not say this does not exist. It might just be a managers reduction. Just wait until tomorrow!~

Plus the op also stated he did not buy it he is waiting for the IP 2 he just thought he would help out US on the forum by letting us know
BTW cheers for taking the time to do that.

Well thats exactly what you are saying by declaring FAKE above.

a) read the thread.

b) it really boils my urine how theres a deal posted here and it takes 30 seconds for someone to go "proof?"

Do people not have minds of their own anymore? This is a forum that people post on for no reward. Why on earth should someone prove what they are saying "beyond reasonable doubt" - someone posts a deal, and then it is up to anyone interested to verify it themselves. If they cant be arst, their loss if its real.

Come on people for gods sake - get a grip, and start to engage brain. Stop expecting people to put it on a plate for you. Do you expect the poster to buy it and send it to you as well??

OP - thanks for taking the time to post.
#35
If proof can be shown it means, I believe, that any John Lewis store will match the price - isn't that what they guarantee? Heat added anyway, as I can't see what benefit there would be in lying about this.

Because it's not a couple if pound cheaper it's £50 odd cheaper, 7 days after they knocked £100 off the price.

I may post that I saw an iPad 1st gen for £229 from John Lewis. I take it I have your support when people start telling me to post proof?

People want proof:

A. To stop them being laughed out of John Lewis
B. So they don't waste there time on a wild goose chase.

You can't blame anyone for wanting proof so jump down off that high horse of yours!!

Morning Guys.

Appreciate the positive comments.

Just got off the phone with the store in question. Initially they confirmed the price to be £329.

However when I explained the location of the product and the POS that was present they went off to physically check. They just called back and the answer is that the units in question are ex-display or customer returns. They still have full warranty. I did mention that the POS wasn't clear and that it didn't follow their normal procedure at which point they did agree.

So there you have it, if you want an opened box 16gb for £275 or 32gb for £325 they are in Nottingham waiting for ya.

I'm now off to manage my football team and get back in time for the Man U match hope everyone has a good weekend.

Thanks for this, shame I'm not in Notts but I'm sure others will benefit from your diligence and dedication in the face of scathing comments. After all, you didn't have to bring this to the attention of this site. Thank you.

Im not on a high horse.

If people dont want to waste their time, or get laughed at, then dont follow it up. Simples.

If you want the chance of a good deal, ask at the store. They will say yay or nay.

The people on this forum are here to bring deals or potential deals to our attention. Not to guide you through the entire process of getting said deal from start to finish.
