Operaton Flashpoint: Dragon Rising £27.00 instore ASDA (Xbox 360 and Ps3)

£27.00 @ George (Asda George)
Just read in the paper (daily star) that asda will be selling this for £27 from midnight tonight. Both Xbox 360/Ps3 available at that price. Sorry no image as scanner is not working.

Cool, will pop down and get it at 00.00hr.

Great Price. Got it in the post yesterday (thank you ShopTo) so for someone looking for a mature shooter on the Xbox, this is the dogs dangly bits.

Just Endure the first mission, IMO the first mission is a little boring with a LOT of trekking and there is no tutorial so you feel youve been dropped into it unprepared a little bit. But if you endure it then the next few missions are excellent, unpack those Night Vision Goggles soldier..... :)

Will vote when it is confirmed !!

if it is then i see another midnight juant to the local ASDA

Will Tesco be doing the same ??
#5
He read it in the newspaper from an advert that will have cost Asda thousands, I'd call that confirmation.

just received my pre-order this morning from the hut £29 , not bad but i think youhave to play a while to get into it
#7
This isn't really a computer deal, it should be in Entertainment IMO.

Will they even sell this at midnight. I tried once to buy a game at midnight and they refused for some reason.

He/She means it should be listed under the Entertainment category.

I'm in two minds about this game, looks good but its mainly multiplayer? In which case have to wait and see if any friends get it.

Brilliant game.

Been played the best part of a day now and still only on the 3rd mission, mainly due to MP being pretty fun. Bit laggy online in the vehicles but will soon be sorted out I'd imagine.

Meadsy25204742 - thats my GT for anyone that fancies playing online. :-D

That is hot! ASDA's just up the road from me. Cheers!

Heat added for console version.

Edit (this was for the PC version)
Rubbish game on the PC tho, massive disappointment. Poor console port with a radial command menu best suited for gamepads, no dedicated server support (despite what it says on the box, so dont expect the lag to be cured) and dumb AI. SP lasts 5-7 hours, no worthwhile MP unless you have a LAN or max of four of you playing coop.

I herd there was a newspaper ad anybody able to uplaod it so i can Gamestation price match as it aint in the sun herd the mail or the mirror has it in tho?

Just seen it in the daily mirror.

Haven't heard a massive amount about this game, possibly because any FPS hype has been about COD:MW2.

What is it similar to? Worth a punt for someone who struggles like hell playing COD online?
#22
Similar to GRAW of R6V. Requires patience and planning. Run and gun = a quick death!
#23
I got it yesterday from shopto and put in a fair few hours last night on the 360 and so far I really like it. If you like fast paced stuff like COD or HALO don't buy it, this is slow, methodical, one bullet one kill proper warfare, and it's ace

Does that mean that you have to command other troops in this game then?

I don't like doing that really, I prefer to just be a lone soldier, I'm not into the whole 'lead a squad' thing.

the op reading somewhere is not a comfirmation. if several people have read the same advert then confirm it, then i'll believe it.

I've just been reading the mirror at work, asda have a advert advertising the ps3 & xbox 360 v for £27. Get yourself down to the papershop, I think the mirror is 45p these days.

was going to have a look on the way home (in the paper) as i work several miles away from any shops.

A mate has had the game for a couple of days and he said (like other people in this thread) if you liked GRAW you are going to love this...
#28
Sweet!

I've been hoping for a good deal on the console versions, hopefully I can get a copy tonight, cheers!

I ordered it from shopto, might give it a look later. I like a slower paced game but know I'm going to be as bad at this as I am at any other game :( funnily enough played some rainbow 6 vegas last night and was quite bad.

games are suppose to be entertainment not a contest. Im not too bad at COD, and i wasn't too bad at GRAW either but i try to play with mates instead of the hyper "must win or die" yanks.

hyper "must win or die" yanks.

Killing them and then laughing at their excuses is half the fun for me!!!! :)
#34
I agree fella, this is supposedly a "hard core game" - my gaming motto is die laughing :)
#35
Hi all

Just wondered if anyone could tell me.....Is this game played in the first person or the third person... First person games unfortunately make me sick so I cant play them

Thanks
#36
Well I can answer my own question as ive just seen the answer finally.......Its a first person shooter game.........which is a shame as I fancied this

This is supposed to be an authentic "shooter" title in so much as all the weapons, vehicles, and soldiers/civilians have been rendered from real elements.

There is limited "heads-up" on-screen information; just a reticule from the sight on your weapon.

The fact that you feel like you have been dropped into an unknown terrain, unprepared & with very little equipment must just be like being a British soldier!

Thanks for the more comprehensive "heads-up" on this deal.

Oh dont get me wrong, I appreciate that this is meant to be an authentic shooter, I could just see that some people may buy it, start the first mission, get bored and move on.

Actually maybe that was the plan by the developers!? then all the people playing it will be playing it "properly" :)

Yes, you command a squad of 4 in both multiplayer and single player, although you just command yourself if you play the 4-man co-op with online mates.
