Got hd142x when it was on offer with screen for £449. But this deal is better.

You cannot got wrong for under £400 for a good 3d 1080p projector, and add a extra £45 on ebay for a nice big 120in screen and you will be in movie heaven in your own home.

Mine is far from quiet, but it seems to vary from unit to unit.

Given that the fan creates the noise and its sole purpose is to keep the unit from overheating, I suspect the variation in noise is more to do with the ventilation/position/room temperature of the projector than unit to unit variations?

Don't forget an amp and speakers as the internal speaker in these is underwhelming. But other than that, great deal.

Yeah forgot about the sound, don't have a amp myself but i use a old stereo radio cassette player with aux in, yes i know that sound's(no pun intended), like it might bit rubbish, but no, the bassy sound it gives off is great, just never got round to replacing it as it does the job. lol

Picture doesn't do it justice but possibly the best thing i've ever bought. You wont be disappointed - especially at this price. Heat given.

Had one of these for a while - good projector but doesn't have horizontal keystoning so needs to be mounted central to screen. Mine's slightly off centre (to be mounted in ceiling joist) so it bugs me, even though no one else notices
#16
I've had this projector for over a year now and its great. 120inch screen the PJ just over 13 feet away. it has a nice picture and looks the part.
#17
Had mine over a year, love it, 3d is nice too. The only grip I had that you cant adjust side angles. Next one I think will go for short throw one.
#18
So I'd have to get a freeview HD tuner (or sky box etc), run the audio to amp and video to projector? And run power up to the projector too. Cabling is stopping me!
#19
Stick in a chrome cast and stream to it
#20
What happened to the HD142X it seems to have disapeared from the UK
#21
reiterating above posts, had mine a year now and love it, can't beat watching family movies or gaming on a 120" screen with it. 3D also works really well. Don't need branded expensive glasses got 5 cheaper pairs off amazon work just as well.
#22
Would love to buy this but not sure if Costco after sale service. Think Amazon will price match??
#23
Had mine for nearing a year, absolutely fantastic purchase. Replaced a 50" plasma with a 130" display projected onto a matte white wall. It's a bit noisy but it'll be drowned out by a set of speakers easily enough. Remember to give it a clean out when it gets noisy.

Yeah cabling stopped me from ceiling mounting it in a rented flat, would've been a small nightmare to do.

We've got a freesat tuner at the front along with a receiver which acts as an amp for the speakers at the front then passes video out to the projector via a HDMI cable on the floor (remember for long runs you'll need an active i.e. amplified HDMI cable). It works but probably wouldn't work if we had pets or small children.

The fan itself produces an annoying 'rrrrr' sound (no other projector I had can you hear the actual fan, just the rush of air). Some other people had the same issue, others didn't. It's still a bargain projector though, outstanding for gaming (its exclusive use for me).

I have this also- absolute quality in every way. 120 inch screen playing any game/movie or 3d movie is fantastic. Cue the 'rainbow effect warriors' which I have never seen personally. if you want 3d, you will need to some active 3d glasses and a sender which can be bought from Amazon. Buy it- you wont regret it!

Just because you don't see rainbows doesn't mean they aren't there. I see them from time to time (anyone can induce them by focusing on a bright object on a black background and moving your eyes from side to side really quickly).

I've personally found that overtime the brain filters out most of them, to the point that you don't see them unless you look for them.

Very nice

I use mine everyday in my room, it's pretty good. The 3d is absolutely cr*p on it though.

Couldn't get on with the rainbow effect, ended up with a TW5210, much better.

Cold, no 4K or coffee making facility ;)

Heat added good deal, I have benq th670 but this is good as well. My benq is better if you watch movies in pitch darkness, but this is better if you watch TV with dim light on, As optoma has better contrast . but of course my benq has low contrast which makes it give better whites on pitch darkness. I would advice you get this price matched at richer sounds, which they do always, and better warranty. Also always check your distance rate if you are planimg to place the projector in fixed distance to the screen. I had to choose benq also just because of this, I needed min. 420cm distance for a 120inch screen. Optoma could only give that in max. 330cm. Distance.

More likely to be a faulty cable. Pins on the socket are solid, whereas clips inside the plug can go weak.
#34
Really tempted by this. Just worried about the fan noise and rainbow affect. But cant be the best selling projector on Amazon without being decent for most people.

Got one coming today. All I've got to do now is rearrange the entire living room.

Nobody seemed to mention how much the replacement bulb will cost & is it not better to get a LED projector that has a bulb life of 10+ years and that they have wireless connectivity and some come with android operating system (good for Kodi) and a good one costs around £300 .
