Bought one of these Aldi Telescopes a couple of years ago, and it is truly useless! :-(

I have to agree. Astronomical telescopes are one of those rare things where you still get what you pay for.

If you're looking for a cheap telescope, you're better off going for a reputable make. Celestron make some reasonable kit for the beginner. The 114EQ models are good entry level scopes, and start at around £95.00 on Amazon.

Sadly there are an increasing number of badly-made scopes out there that are really no more than toys.
