Good, reliable battery operated toothbrush that has outlasted my other kids' ones. Use some rechargeable batteries which, apart from the perceived hassle of changing and charging by some, I believe are better than built-in ones which degrade after about a year anyway.

Your teeth and gums will feel pampered because you're removing more plaque than an ordinary manual toothbrush. pay the extra and get the electric one, they are only £15 at the moment and save on batteries, or if you really need these Home Bargains have them for £5.49

My experience with the ones with built in batteries are that they can degrade quite quickly (as I stated in the OP) - these are for my kids (not very young) anyway. Plus not everyone has convenient shaver-style point in bathroom or wishes to plug in bedroom with an adaptor etc.
Plus these are good for travels as twinkle states, becuase they take normal AAs which last a decent while (and also included), but are available nearly everywhere.

yep all true but think of the environment, an electric one will last a week on a full charge, if that's the case then you probably need to replace the batteries each week in these, so put an adaptor somewhere, save money and think of the environment. The other ones are also for kids and you can also travel with them ours goes with us when we are on holiday. its a reasonable deal if you want a battery one but makes sense with the other ones being so cheap and the extra warranty that to get the other one.

I get that many will prefer the built-in option as it is potentially more convenient and could be more powerful etc., but I am actually thinking of the environment too, hence why I advocate rechargeable batteries in my OP and have always used them once the included AAs run out. Even cheap Lidl rechargeables last several weeks in this.

In fact, this one could be seen as more eco friendly as these batteries can be replaced, compared to potentially ditching the whole unit (unless you're comfortable with sodlering etc.) like my wife's one with built-in battery that failed after 15 months - I understand that some may have a 2-3 year warranty, but does this include the battery as often they're often liumited to 1 yeat (e.g. as with drills, etc)?

Anyway, each to their own and with 4 kids (and no bathroom socket/point), I consider this the best option for me and have bought 2 for less than the price of the one you refer to.
