A very basic mobile phone, good for children and/or relatives who may not have one. At just £9.99, this phone seems a very good buy! OK, it just calls and texts, but some people just want that :)

It is likely to be locked to orange. Might be available in store, but I don't now.

Details:
* Active flip style * 4k colour screen * Dual band.
* 102 x 80 pixel screen resolution * Vibration alert
* 16 polyphonic ringtones * Talk time - up to 600 minutes.
* Stand-by time - up to 240 hours * 2 Java games.
* Size of handset (H)83, (W)43, (D)22mm * Weight 77g.

Orange Alcatel OTE205. T Mobile Alcatel E259.

Both £14.99 as well. Orange now requires £10 top up so this is cheaper.

The red version of this is £9.99 at Woolworths (in store) on T-mobile. You don't have to buy top-up. :p

What is the swirly pattern on it? is it a bit girly? My 9 year old DS has been hounding me for a phone for ages (knows no one to call, just wants a 'real' phone) wonder if this would do

Good phone for good price .. thanks emasu :)

Will be locked to orange. Forget abt unlocking as this may be more than the phone cost !

My gran is looking to replace an old nokia handset and is looking for something simple to use for text and phone. Does anyone know if they're suitable for an elderly person or are they purely phones for kids?
Thanks

this looks and feels like a poundland toy that someone decided to make active. Hard, shiny and not very nice, and at £10, completely disposable.

When people say a top up is required....does that mean you must buy a certain amount before the sim card works......taking it does come with one?

I have a relative visiting from Canada and it would be handy for her to have a phone, I do have an Orange sim card in the house, could I put that in it or if its supplied can you just put in £5 to get it going

Thanks

No top up is required, as such. Phone comes with an Orange sim card, which you have to register, can be done online. This will give you £1 of credit. You just put credit on the phone as and when you need it, just like any other PAYG.

I see, just that someone posted the following 'The red version of this is £9.99 at Woolworths (in store) on T-mobile. You don't have to buy top-up'

I took that as you would be better buying the T mobile one for that reason.

Sounds a good deal, are there any other ones currently available that are so cheap

No, they're getting confused between buying a phone from a retail outlet that is on Orange and buying an Orange phone from the Orange website.

Orange retail sell this for £9.99 (no top up required if your upgrading)
