Orange charging for 07978 international calls - you can terminate your contract early!
If you look at your latest Orange bill, they are going to be charging for numbers like 07978 that are used to call abroad from December 15th. However, there is a clause in the Orange contract which enables you to terminate the contract early.
http://www1.orange.co.uk/mobileterms/
it is clause 4.3 in that link, the clause is:
"4.3 terminating your Contract because Orange has changed its terms
You may also terminate your Contract if we vary its terms, resulting in an excessive increase in the Charges or changes that alter your rights under this Contract to your detriment. In such cases you would need to give us at least 14 days written notice prior to your Billing Date (and within one month of us telling you about the changes). "
So if you want to cancel your contract early because of these changes, do it quickly but avoid paying for the remainder of your contract when Orange no longer give you any benefit!

Jump to unread Post a CommentI followed the instructions to report to CISAS and got a comfirmation letter from them saying Orange needs to responde by 21 May.
Guess what, my sim card just failed to connect to network suddently... without any message informing this...
I think that Orange has disconnected my number, just waiting for the official letter...
In the meantime, I want to request the PAC code for my number as I want to transfer it to my exsiting Orange P&G sim or O2 one.
Just wondering if they are willing to provide this to me..:?
Ill start you a cheer too

Thanks OP and everyone else for ur advice. I've done it and it all thanks 2 you lot, brill advice.
When the original ho ha started regarding getting ur orange contract cancelled, i tried to get my number disconnected cos i was using it heavily to ring these numbers which orange were going to be charging for from the 15 dec. I was fobbed off and they claimed i did not use the number enough. I lost heart and just gave up.
Then the mention of using CISAS to make orange budge by some on here, made me stand up again. I did so last week and just a couple of days ago, my contract Orange phone just suddenly discconected. I rang orange up and someone in India did not have a clue what had gone on.
Today to my surprise, i recived 2 letters. 1 from CISAS to say that orange would be sorting out my compliant and the case was closed.
The second was from Orange complaints depart saying they were sorry and would be sending me a check for my line rental since 15th december plus £180 compensation for my troubles. This was the amount i stated when i claimed with CISAS as this was the amnount of line rental since 15th dec to date.
So RESULT.......... Thanks to all and for those taking Orange on GOOD LUCK :p
For my story, Orange cancelled one of my contracts immediately. The other they refused to (was in my mum's name) and after going through MCOL, they agreed to. They refunded me the 4 months line rental for the time I had to waste which considering I used the minutes, was fine with me!
I have got a call yesterday from orange and the person on the phone was saying you asked for a compensation of 900 pounds we cant pay for that but as the dispute started in November he will pay my line rental for 2 phones 80Punds X 6 months which my wife was about to say yes but as i handled the call later i explained about the reason for 900 pounds.
He was rushing to get my answer yes but as i went through my bills i have noticed i received a bill in Jan 2008 for 328 pounds and 146 pounds :roll:in November if you add up all these its coming to a figure of 856 pounds but as from Jan i was downgrading 5 pounds each phone per month he agreed for 800pounds. I will be posting the pic of my cheque when i get it.
Please note that we are unable to take on a complaint unless you can show that you have been in dispute with the company for 12 weeks or over or you have obtained a CISAS Deadlock reference number for the company to enable you to use the scheme before the 12 weeks is up.
Please provide your postal address if you wish to be sent an information pack.
In the meantime we respectfully request that you cease copying us into messages you are sending to your provider as we are unable to act on these. I confirm that your message will not be recorded and has been deleted.
