  This is by far the best phone for £100. It'll pretty much match a Galaxy S2 speed wise. Camera is a bit pants though.
  It's certainly a lot faster than my old G300 which used to be the benchmark for sub £100 phones.

  It will run on Orange or T-Mobile, and after 3 months I've read you can pay £20 (?) to get network unlock.

  not being able to root it would put me off as there a number of apps that I use that require root access.

  Yes you can root. Use the AIO tool at http://sandiego.modaco.com. You just cant flash custom roms (locked bootloader). Unlocking so far is only direct via Orange. Using that tool you can also flash a Xolo rom (it's sold in India as the Xolo X900) which is much closer to stock ICS, and a further option takes almost all the way to stock by ripping out the Xolo apps.
  
  An update to JB is expected soon too, although this isn't 100% certain.
  
  I picked one of these up at the end of 2012 for this price when they also gave out the free headphones, and agree for the price it's a phenomenal phone. Shame it's no longer available online, but at least they're still in shops. FYI the latest models come out the box with ICS, so no newly bought ones should be running GB (unless it's extremely old stock).
