(EDIT may be £20 but you could always haggle !)

No flamers please. Just constructive comments .. thanks.

EDIT: Possible £20 Public Sector/NHS Discount... from the other thread,... worth a try

"NHS discount (£20) also available instore, also possibly council workers. You will be required to take a pay cheque, they MAY let you just show NHS i.d card. "

In Birmingham last week they made me top up £20 on £89 for the phone at the orange shop.
It was the only place near us with stock so I had to pay it.
#10
its £79-99 plus £20 top up in store
#11
Sorry for the vagueness,,,,,, but thanks for the constructive posts.... I'd hear on Modaco forum it had been reduced instrore (ORANGE SHOPS) to £79.99 but as I'm nowhere near a store I couldn't confirm the price.

This deal is true - i brought it from the Fleet Street store in London for £79.99 plus £20 topup. This is a better deal than paying £89 for the phone and buying another £10 top up as at least with this deal you have get £10 more topup for the same price.

Thanks Grabitt 8) i know I'd rather only pay £79.99 for the base phone, unlock it, and then sell on the Sim with £20 on it ...but there's no pleasing everyone. :)

I guess some people are happy to pay £10 more for the phone and only have £10 top-up.

What is this about the top-up only lasting a month before expiring???

...if this is true it's disgraceful and they can stick it up their orange ass!!!

...oh, and is this deal eligible for the £20 public sector discount?

the top up credit does not expire, as long as you make/recieve a call/txt etc every 90 days (or might be 180 days can't remember). the 30 day topup thing is for getting the free txt/web/international call(depending on which 'animal' you chose).

not sure about the public sector discount, does that include nhs?
#20
It's the free £10 credit argos are offering with it that expires in 30 days

Free £10 airtime credit when activated. Offer not available online - reserve mobile for store pick-up. Free credit can be used for UK calls/texts. Unused credit will not roll over. You will receive a text when credit has been applied. Credit is not part of top-up balance. Offer ends 29th July 2011

I dont see why they shouldn't honour the £20 NHS/Public Sector discount. They have in previous deals,... I've edited the OP.

Yes it does include NHS staff, you must provide a wage slip with-in 3 months old, you can also use for 5 friends and family. You need to buy a handset over £30 to get £20 discount and also put on the minimum top-up required (usually £10 but selected handsets are £20). This can also be used by Teachers, local councils, emergency services, army and more. You can also use it for 10% off a Pay monthly contract (not Iphone)
Hope that helps some :-)

Could i buy six phones using my Local council discount?

Not at the same time ;)

Question...if I bought one and didn't want any of the Orange top-up credit as I intend unlocking it and going with Giffgaff, could I transfer the credit to my girlfriends phone? Does the top-up credit come in the form of a voucher or is it pre-loaded on the sim?

...if it is on the sim is there any way of transferring it to another phone?

They put the credit onto a simcard unless you can persuade them to give you an actual evoucher, but if you give them your g/f's number at the time of purchase they will add it to a sim with her number

...sorry for being thick (...but I am when it comes to mobiles (_;)), if they do put the credit on a sim with her number, what do I do with her current sim...which still has credit on it?

I think you may have misunderstood him. If you give orange your girlfriend's orange phone number, they can just add the credit to her account, no need for a new sim or anything.

...aaah, sorry...see, told you I was 'mobile' thick!

...I'll give it a try at the Merry Hill branch.8)

Sorry but you can't just give Orange your GFs number as due to data protection it is her account (even PAYG)
2 options,
1) buy it and then get your GF to call Orange and say she has received phone as a gift, they will need the number you get in store and PIN that you set up also.
2) Take her with you and it will be simply be done as an upgrade, they will change her number and credit on to the new sim.
I would be quick because if i'm not mistaken this is WOW of the week offer, meaning it will be changing at the end of today.

looking at getting this for my mum, my dad is a doctor so guess I'll get him to pop into an orange store and see if he can get £20 off so £80 rather than £100. I have an orange payg so been meaning to give them a call to see if I can get it for £79 as has been mentioned in other threads but been lazy :) I only have a few quid left on my sim so I could use the new sim with the credit then toss it if orange don't put the top up on my current number.

at this price I'm tempted to get one for myself so I can play around with rooting it and flashing different roms on it, but I have a htc desire(bought last year for £399 from cpw, now its under £250 from p4u. not been brave enough to root it) and don't currently have a job so can't afford to splash out on these sort of things.

...phoned up Merry Hill and they told me it was finishing that day...they also told me they didn't have any in stock! :(

...anyone know of the best place to get the phone from at the moment...seems to have finally gone quiet on the san francisco front? :|

It never ended today so check with them to see if they got any delivered ;-)

was in town earlier and the guy in the orange store said the offer is on till sunday/monday, going to try to get dad to go to town and get one. asked the guy guy about putting the credit on my current payg sim and he said they'd be able to do that.

they don't have this offer on the white version, I prefer the white tho it's for my mum not me :)
#35
It is on the white as well m8

Thank you so much for posting this. My mum works for the local council and because this was such a good deal she has bought it today. She is now in the 21st century with an apps phone :) I just have to teach her how to use it. Thanks again so much :)

P.s she got a White one for £79.99 including a £20 top up!

Shame the deal got voted cold..... maybe most people who voted cold paid £109 or are i-phone fans!;)

I think possibly the best similar deal at the moment is £90 +£10 from Argos or Tesco if you can find stock. I dont think you can get NHS/Council discount etc though.
