No, because if you look at the deal, Argos are listing a special offer below the product that states "Free £10 airtime voucher", meaning that it will just be £89.99, but you still need to go instore to pick-up.

Hot deal, link wasn't working for me though, but it was easy to find via the search box. Thanks! :)

Is the Orange San Fran really that much better then the alternatives today? Granted when it first came out it was.

Well if they are going to amend the web page to reflect what you say then yes it's a better deal than before.

None in Essex or Suffolk

I upgraded it to Froyo 2.2 and it runs perfect....No Branding and some additional feature with no wifi issues

If you need some help regarding updating the firmware let me know I will send the link from where you can download the files

some stock in both colours in durham area (peterlee and sunderland)

heat added.

Brilliant phone.
The deal will depend on the staff in your Argos.

freddysmith is correct. The ACTUAL deal is you buy the phone for £89.99. They make you buy a voucher for £10 and then give you a 'free' additional £10 voucher.
Confirmed in my local store.

However.. it is complicated so obviously some staff are just giving the one £10 voucher for free.

If anyone in the worcester area wants one of these i have a spare one i bought from Orange direct which i have been trying to return for a few weeks now and still waiting for the return bag to be delivered, so if anyone wants it i will sell it them as it would be easier than trying to return it for a refund let me know?

Thanks, I have one also, thinking about getting another :-) Updated with Japanese Jellyfish, works really well, but Flash 10.1 Player isnt available on this phone and thats my biggest gripe with it....Well worth the money for any newbie to smarthphones and unlocking, debranding, adding a ROM arent too difficult if ur a bit tech savvy :-)

It's not complicated at all:

Free £10 airtime voucher applied once this mobile phone is activated. Offer not available online, please add mobile to trolley to reserve for store pick-up. Offer ends 29th July 2011.

... it's more a case of the numpties behind the till have no idea what they are doing.

I bought it and they told me that I still had to buy a top-up therefore it has cost me £99.99, they then said I will get £20 credit. I have only got one £10 voucher and they said the other £10 would be loaded on the phone when it is activated. Is this correct? Thanks

So I think the summary of the OFFICIAL deal is:

Buy the phone at £89.99 with an obligatory £10 top-up = £99.99.
Receive an additional £10 credit on Orange once the phone is activated.

So £99.99 gets you a phone that CAN be freely unlocked to use on other networks
AND an Orange PAYG SIM in the box with the phone
AND an Orange PAYG top-up worth £10+£10 that MIGHT have to be applied to the SIM in the phone to get the £10 bonus.

Obviously what an Argos assistant at a till can be persuaded to do remains another matter :)

Personally I got a OSF direct from Orange WITH a SIM but WITHOUT the top-up (due to their *d up system rejecting payment for that part of the 2nd or 3rd order - their system having *d up the previous ones) - and it left me with an Orange SIM with I think 6p credit on it. I then immediately unlocked the phone and used it on GiffGaff instead.

Thankyou, I did believe you but they didn't give me the same deal as you so I wanted a copy of your receipt as proof to show them that they have charged me wrong.

Heat added by the way

But they've charged you correctly ... they've charged the OP the wrong price.

Getting bored of checking Argos stock, they never have any in!
#25
Very tempted - but I'm wondering, if I add £30 to the price, can I get a 'better' Android, something with similar specs but a better camera?

Your can now install CyanogenMod 7 RC1 which is android 2.3 :D
#27
Wow amazing deal! This deserves to be the hottest deal ever in my opinion.........Oh wait
#28
I did the same as several others, bought for £99 including the £10 voucher - bit odd that Argos even bother listing it at £89 when buying the £10 top-up is mandatory.

Seriously impressed with the phone for the price, get all the Orange junk off it and it runs extremely well.
#29
I bought this one yesterday and have to go there again for £10 voucher, great phone by the way!

Great deal - especially now Cyanogen has an official release candidate release :). Made hot.

Great phone for the money but the processor is underpowered, the screen is pants and there's no Flash (on the camera and in your browser).

Underpowered? you won't find anything within twice the price that has a higher clock speed and as much RAM. :{

Incidently, the 'buy a £10 Orange topup.. get £10 credit Free' part of the deal is also available simply by requesting one of their FREE SIM's from here:

cold from me as the phone is £99 not £89
#37
Website is showing three white ones in Solihull Mill Lane if anyone's interested.
#38
I just think it should be as per the website: ie £89.99 + £10 airtime.. if you're able to argue the case for £10 off is very much upto you and the dim-ness of the cashier/supervisors involved. :{.. thats IF you find stock.
#39
Repost and incorrect as well (as several others have stated) - the deal is £99. Some may be lucky (if they find stock) and manage to persuade Argos not to charge for the mandatory £10 voucher but the deal is £89 + £10 + free additional £10.

Is unlocking this phone easily done? I need a backup work phone (Vodafone). I googled and it looks like you can do it by downloading an App - any thoughts?
