This deal was previously posted for £109 from Argos with the £10 top up, but it seems to have been reduced by £10 so, along with Play (which only has the white version), I think this is the cheapest around.

All the information you could possibly want is already in this thread

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/orange-san-francisco-android-2-1-wv/763425

So I won't bother posting it all again.

I bought this for my brother earlier today for £109, so not very happy about it but having got the chance to play around with it today I have reserved myself one. :D

These are almost definitely the TFT versions.

A screen comparison of TFT vs OLED version can be seen here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VD9kTrR1llg

From the video looks like a huge difference, haven't seen it in real so guess I can't comment but from the feedback everyone's giving it seems as if though its barely noticeable in day to day use.

Still a great phone at a great price!

FREE Unlock calculator: http://www.nextgenserver.com/calculator/
Put your IMEI in (which is printed on the box and is also available at Settings-About Phone-Status-IMEI), select ZTE, leave default model as ZTE BLUEBELT. Put a non-orange sim card in and enter the code and press "unlock" and it will then be done.

Now only £89.99 (with free top-up, ends 22/02/11)

Yeah when reserving for collection you don't have to get the top up it seems, unless they charge you in-store?

I reserved one, if its 89.99 i'll go take it, if not i'll leave it lol

I take it these will most likely be TFT?

Most likely a TFT now, especially if its a white. The TFT's are fine though.

I have got one of my heads coming on now.

Much worse phone. Resistive touch screen, low resolution screen and much more.
#14
Its a great phone, got mine just before christmas from the orange shop when they had the 15% off £99, and quid-co which were giving £18 cashback, and the cashback which was only tracking at £12 as just increased to its proper amount.Unlocked it for free and rooted,i haven't put a different rom on it yet, just deleted all the orange apps that i didn't need..

It's not a **** phone for the price. Not many comparable sub £100 android phones in the market, especially if you were lucky enough to get the OLED screen. For the money, it's a much better deal than any iPhone.

I bought the OLED version back in early Dec.
Fantastic phone, unlocked for free so that I could use my 3 SIM.
Remember, if you're planning on doing any ROM flashing you need to use the TFT specific versions!

kev_u8701r, you're clearly mental.

been said before, loads of info here

and XDE has a sub forum for it too now

Thansk for the heads up. I have reserved one in grey. How can you tell if it is an TFT model?
#19
@mcbain I've got a 3 sim and I'm tempted to go for this. Was it easy to unlock and was there any issue with putting a 3 sim into an orange phone? Would I need to flash the rom?
#20
Great phone - heat added. Make sure you check the Modaco Blade forum so you get the best out of it :).

Dead easy to unlock apparently. Just search around google. There's offers on ebay that charge a few quid, but with a bit of searching (for ZTE Blade probably) it's easy to do for free. No need to flash ROMs if unlocking from Orange. (as long as you dont mind keeping all the crap apps they no doubt put on there)

Very easy and free to unlock, Modaco forum and previous thread on here has the detail. You do not need to flash the rom to unlock and put your 3 sim in.

I have one running 2.2 and I must say it is superb!

Free Unlock here : http://www.nextgenserver.com/calculator/

Put your IMEI in, select ZTE, leave the default model as ZTE BLUEBELT, pop in the not-a-robot code. In the box above the IMEI you'll receive your code

Based on what? Please can you enlighten anyone here what better phone you can get for the money? Awaiting an informative reply........

Could it be you are throwing your dummy in the dirt for an expensive contract on a Galaxy S? Or could it be you are trying to compare a £100 phone against a £350 phone?

AFAIK still capacitive and very little difference in the screens, apart from the OLED having no backlight and therefore the blacks are very black, There's a vid on YouTube showing the difference if you power the phones up in complete darkness. For everyday use however, I doubt you'll notice a massive difference.

Yes it is still multi touch capacitive, used to be OLED, now starting to put only standard CCFL Backlit screens in them. Allegedly a slight improvement in battery life, no colour fringing, but obviously weaker blacks and colour luminancy.

I order one from play.com... wish I could cancel the order.

I don't need one of these.

All i do is make and receive calls and sens and receive texts.

Why would I need a smartphone? I don't. So why am I constantly coming back to this and almost buying it?

Can somebody please give me a good "oh so THATS why I need one" sort of arguement? :)

Gadget play time, stuck in a cafe, on public transport, waiting for a friend in a pub, sat at home half watching tv.

Endless possibilities with open source android applications, useable internet on the move, social network blogging...within one device that sits in your pocket that also receives and makes phone calls and sends and receives texts.

Downside....power hungry, expect to charge every day or two.

APN-three.co.uk
proxy-leave as not set
port-leave as not set
username- not set

MMSC- type in http://mms.um.three.co.uk:10021/mmsc
MMS proxy -not set
MMS port 8799
MMC-234
MNC-20
Authentication type-none
APN type-default
it will work with those settings.hope it helps.

So I'm a complete newbie to smartphones, but wouldn't mind the upgrade to this. I am already a Orange PAYG customer, so no unlocking needed. I am mainly interested in using the internet every once in a while.

How will I be charged for this on PAYG, how much does this cost? I've had a quick look around, but couldn't really find it.
