I bought this over the phone from orange two days ago. I gave them the number of the sim card that I use for orange Wednesdays and they gave me a £30 discount. Worth a go if you have an orange sim laying around :)

brought my wife and daughter one each for Christmas, they can;t put them down. Web browsing blows away my daughters ipod3G in speed and screen quality.

i wanted to see the phone, so went to the Orange shop and ended up buying it (even though you had to put a £20 top up on as opposed to the £10 min. top up if you bought online from Orange + they didn't have any of the gift boxes they were advertising online). I phoned Orange online when i got home, and it was only then that i was told that as an existing PAYG customer, i could have had £30 discount if i'd bought online ...Grrrrr!)

As SneakyD says - available from Orange for £83 delivered (incl Christmas Gift Pack), if already an Orange customer.

I'm an orange contract customer can I still get £30 off and do I need to phone the order up?

Pretty sure its been this price on play since october.

Think its actually a better deal from orange at £110 with £16 quidco back and I believe you get better warranty than play.
#12
Brilliant bit of kit - see the various HUKD threads over the past couple of months.
Don't worry about missing out on the Orange Xmas Gift Box - it was worth about £1 to a kid!

There are two versions of this phone. The first to come out had a better screen (This is the one most reveiws are based on). I think its a bit of a cheat to keep name of the phone the same but chage the screen !

Most are moving back to LCD now, only Dell and Samsung are shipping OLED screens to my knowledge.

Absolutely awesome phone for the price, I bought 20 of them over the last few weeks to help out various forum members from well know phone discussion site as it is not available in their country :) Me and wife got one each too :) Just watch out the standby (on/off) button on top when you are inserting the back cover and try not to use that button with your heavy hand ( its the only weak point )

Great phone, easy unlock, slightly trickier to debrand, but once done it's a fantastic little phone! Get a 16gb memory card ffrom play.com or amazon and your laughing! Want a fancy phone but don't have £500 to spend, check this one out instead!
#17
Remember Play.com only offer a 28 day warranty, after the 28 days they refer you direct to the manufacturer. Being based in Jersey they don't have to comply with the UK consumer laws.

Do a Google or look closely on Play.com's website for more details.

this phone is quality. out the box it can be abit slow with 2.1 and all the orange bloatware, but once u get a custom 2.2 on it, it shines baby! i love my orange sanny

so do you get 30 quid buying over the phone or online? mrs is on orange and i know she wants a smart phone

I am not an Orange customer.
I was thinking of getting a Wildfire but people keep referring me to this phone instead.
As there are far too many threads for me to read through, can anyone possibly answer these questions for me:

1. How simple is it to unlock and debrand the phone? (I am fairly technical in terms of IT but have never used a modern smartphone before).
2. How much would it cost me to get one of these phones if I went through topcashback. Remember I am not an Orange customer.
3. How can I tell if the phone has an OLED screen?

Thanks.

sloooooooow has hell. Once you change networks. No 3G Satnav Or pic messages work for me.. Tried changing settings. If any1 wants to buy my fone local in Doncaster. £50 its yours. 7 Days old :D

It's now TFT screen other than OLED in a couple of months ago.
#24
Whats the battery life on the tft compared to the oled? oled seems pretty poor to me

This is a fantastic phone - unlocks for free and there are plenty of froyo roms in development at the usual suspect forums. Bring on Gingerbread :)

I have this phone and i have got to say i am well impressed a couple of good free apps for this phone http://hubpages.com/hub/Favourite-Free-Android-Apps-for-Orange-San-Francisco

Got one of these a few days ago from Argos. Free and easy to unlock and unbrand. As someone else has mentioned having problems getting the GPS working, think its down to the ROM I have flashed onto it. Will upgrade to 2.2 to see if thats any better. Overall I'm pretty impressed with it after moving from a first gen Iphone.

So , its easy to unlock for free here http://www.nextgenserver.com/calculator/

, but how do you debrand it from orange and upgrade the firmware please ?

Really easy to unlock, it prompts you for a code if you put a different sim in. I paid a quid i think to get a code online but i think you can get it free now.
Got mine running android 2.2 now and its a cracking phone for the price.

I bought one of these after seeing all the hype, very simple to unlock but a nightmare to then get all the correct settings for your prefered network for 3G etc i gave up in the end and stuck with my T Mobile pulse which i am very happy with apart from the battery life.

This is a great phone.

I bought the T-Mobile Pulse last year, but this is an insane upgrade from the pulse. Running one of the custom ROMs from modaco.com to let me use 2.2 and it's awesome.

Hello! What about the SAR? It has got the high value of 1.35 out of 2.00 maximum allowed! I want to buy the phone, but this holds me back a bit...
