AMOLED or TFT LCD?

TFT. AMOLED screens are no longer made for this phone.

Why cold? -I see that it's -zero, and not one cold voter has commented on their motivation. eg, cheaper via orange/elsewhere etc??

Probably because Play.com is run by Satan (_;)

...I waited and now it seems they're all sold out at the usual suspects! This might be the best deal at the moment but I'll wait 'til it's cheaper...which it will be!

It was cheaper than £99.99 at Christmas. So the price has gone up. Not a deal.

I haven't seen this phone advertised on this site for at least a week- so thanks OP as I might have forgotten the phone exists. Also the accompanying posts in the thread are usually quite informative- It's not all about the phone though, many users will post info about flashing, ROM's and tell you Android is better than IOS as it's open and not as controlled as Apple's offering. There are also more free apps on Android and it's easier to install pirated software- so you'd save money buying this phone, or any Android handset, as the 59p or 99p and upward apps are too expensive. Don't worry as it's not really stealing and your 'crime' is victimless as you wouldn't have bought the app anyway.

Beware the trolls though- they'll post how the iPhone changed their lives. How Android is fragmented and full of viruses and malware. They'll resort to labelling you a 'Fandroid' if you dare to criticise Apple. They've sold over 10 billion Apps and everyone copies them and they make the best looking phones- not plastic phones with rubbish cameras like this deal.... blah, blah, blah

Then both sides will continue trying to outscore each other by promoting and defending the platform that they've aligned themselves with, and at every opportunity they'll highlight the weakness (whether real or perceived ) of the doomed competitor.

So there you have it. Instead of buying whatever phone suits your needs best, the whole process has turned into a gadget war. This 'war' has no winners, only losers. And this 'war' has just got worse as it has spread to the nascent tablet market. The same sides are fighting on two fronts now and following yesterday's iPad 2 launch it looks as if this 'war' will only intensify
