When this deal ( FREE £60 CREDIT ) for similar phone was posted before you still had to purchase £10 in store so on that basis price should be £55 inc compulsory £10 top up?

This may not be as good a deal as it seems in terms of the free credit that is.
If you want to pay £30 for the phone then fair enough but with orange every £10 topup gets you 300 txts and 100MB data on top (worth more than £10). You probably dont get these extras with the bundled topups or if you do it'l run out in one month instead of (3+).

got this offer with orange at xmas. You can register with them to receive the free texts and internet access every month. Also register with orange magic numbers, where you can talk to registered orange numbers for 20p for up to an hour.
Hot deal!!

you don't have to top up to get the deal, its £30... And yes, the credit does role over. So after 6months you get £60, from which you get 300 free texts with internet on top if with dolphin. Then, you can also use £5 credit to get 1 months unlimited texts, so thats a years texts sorted too! Flog the phone off for £20, and you get free texts in a year for a tenner- sorted.

Orange is absolutely crap, £10 quid lasts a couple of days if lucky.
I used Orange when I got my San Francisco as I had £10 credit, but the money just seemed to be disappearing even though 3 G etc; were turned off :P
Three all the way for pas as you go, 600 texts, 150 MB internet + Unlimited 3 to 3 which is all valid for 3 months for a £10 topup sounds much better.

Im not sure if forever, but yes, in general terms if you dont use the credit after 6months you will indeed have £60...
#18
great deal.
#19
does anyone really need that air time top up credit ? The best you can do is try and sell it, and still.. u got to wait 6 months just to get them..
#20
excellent deal but sell the phone. Seriously it is slow as ****. I used it at uni as my backup phone as I had to walk past smack heads and prozzies on my way so I didnt want my expensive phone getting nicked. Unfortunately nobody mugged me so I have still have this slow phone.
#21
Does anyone know for sure whether the phone comes unlocked, and whether it comes with a memory card? If so, what size?
#22
got the last one near me cheers , just what i need for keeping in touch with young daughter over the summer
#23
Just got last one near me, thanks. Great for kids!

Just to clarify for all you unsure nervous people...
1. If you tell the argos staff it doesnt require a 10 pound top up then you get the 50 pounds added no probs without it...just that you need to call up orange etc which is a pain...but worth it.

2. The 10 pounds added expires 12 after being added so at the moment from the last similar deal i have something like 42 pounds and never topped up.

3. Orange isn't actually the best mobile phone company for general plans (PAYG) and so that 60 pounds you end up getting wont last very long compared to that on gifffaff etc.

4. If you want to use that credit for a PAY Monthly plan then thats great and this is actually a great deal but the max amount of credit you can use for that thats already preloaded is 30 pounds...so ie. use up 30 and save £30 for a pay monthly plan.

5. Thats all the advice I can give...great deal...I would buy if i actually needed a phone / ;D
#25
excellent for people who need their 1st mobile.
#26
I'm really tempted by this. So what are the call charges etc?, Im thining its dolphin and racoin plans etc. Are you sure that the credit wont expire then? It said on the website 60 quid of airtime include, and a price of 30pound. So how do you work out yyour maths then?
#27
i think this deal is very good for BBM users (£5 a month) and texters (£5 unlimited a month)
#28
This is the reason why our society is referred to as a throw away society. COLD!
#29
When a deal came up for sim only last year, Orange let me take over my remaing payg credit to credit my new monthly account. So if one comes up around the corner should be quids in.

Just been told by the staff at Argos in York that Orange aren't honouring the credit as the phone is too old. So didn't buy, Has anyone else had similar problems?

I would think for legal reasons they do haft to honour it. Sales of goods act. Orange/Argos could be in some serious s****. Yea bring down the big boys, lol!
#33
just aswell the terrible customer service in Argos put me off buying this today!

30 mins in the line due to people mucking about and one poor guy left to do it all while the others tried to look busy behind the service counter :/

so is this "not honouring the credit" thing true or just a rumour?
#34
cex gives £19 cash or £25 store credit for the phone
#35
got the phone today, argos stockport, phoned orange with my i.d. number given with phone, and they have put £10-01 credit on within 2 mins of call.

So how much did it cost you in total then? Do you know if the 10quid will role onto next month?
So if you didnt spend any of it, you have 60 quid at end?
#37
cost me £30-00, he said it will £10-00 will roll over, but looks as though it finishes end of dec, dont know what hapens to balance of credit,ok for my son.argos by the way had no idea.

Hmmmm.....nice deal....I know the phone is a piece of crap BUT.....wonder if I could just take the sim, add the blackberry bolt on & pop it in the wife Curve ? That would be free BB service for 6 months & still leave £30 call credit
