good spot and great price

Brill phone, had mine for almost a year, it really is solid. Love SE!
#4
Superb phone with an amazing music player.

Had a fiddle with one of these a few weeks back and reckon it's as good a phone as any at this price... Better might be a more apt choice of word!

I'n not sure about the new Sony phones but this is one of the best I've seen in yonks. My C905 is playing up so maybe, just maybe worth a swap.

Another spark of heat coming your way!!!

Deffo the best SE phone since the K800i, wish i never got rid of it. all the current SE phones are pants.
#7
Hmm - this does have a much better camera than the Orange San Francisco (which is in transit to me at the moment), but why would you want this over the San Fran? It's cheaper after all, and better in all other ways, surely?
#8
stud I second that.. I have the San Fran, Amazing phone. Outside the pic qaulity is fine. At this price, the wildfire or samsung pixon from argos would be a better choice. The samsung doesn't do anything smart, but is a better camera phone, and the wildfire's camera is ok, much better than the san fran, and its a full featured smart phone!

The Wildfire's screen is terrible compared to the San Fransico and it has less ram. Depends whether you're going to use the camera a lot but even then it's still not great and you're better off getting an ultra compact camera or a dedicated camera phone.

The w995 is a terrible phone IMO - slow, unresponsive, clunky. Not fun to use at all, one of the worst phone purchases I ever made (and I paid a lot more than this for it).

I'm not sure why people are recommending smartphones though, they are completely different kettle of fish, and someone looking at the w995 is unlikely going to want a touchscreen based smartphone.

had this phone just over a year and in that time had 1 replacement ( kept freezing ) and its been nothing but trouble the phone has been sent for repair 4 times so in total i have had a working phone 8 month out of 13 month. same issue every time, the ear piece goes, a common problem with these phone.

i hate this phone went back to using my k800i best phone ever had

b00m - I know plenty of people who have a smartphone and never use a fraction of their power - from stock it is still a better phone, imo. This phone has a res of 240x320 - my phone is 3 years old (P1i), and that had the same res. If you're gonna have GPS, have a screen that is worthwhile viewing it on.

It's not about power. This style of phone and smartphones are aimed at very different markets, which makes suggesting a smartphone to someone attracted to a phone like the w995 a little futile.

I own a zte blade and really like it, but I also own a traditional phone and they both serve different purposes for me.

Orange and T mobile have teamed up now , so i wonder if that means you can use a Tmobile sim in a orange mobile ???

I've had my silver W995 for 2 years now and absolutely ZERO problems at all. it is a wonderful phone with GPS, Wifi, stereo speakers with surprisingly good sound. I don't need a smart phone with so many complex apps but I appreciate a phone that still has up to date features and a great camera, which the W995 has.

Totally recommended but if you do get one debrand it to remove Orange's rubbish, ugly software branding which ruins it.

This is silly? a smart phone like the ZTE Blade (san fran) costs less and can do a lot more. Its like saying at this point in time its better to buy a 24" LCD which is only HD Ready, when you can get a 42" LCD FULL HD for the same price, but you don't currently have blu-ray, sky HD, freeview HD. Why cut your options off? the smartphone will do everything the basic phone will do + more.

If my room was only big enough for the 24", I'm not going to shoehorn a 42" TV into the same room (although many people do, and it looks ridiculous).

A smartphone isn't the answer to everything. As I said in my previous post, I own both a smartphone and a traditional phone. I find them both useful for different things, sometimes I want proper buttons and a compact phone, other times I need a bulky smartphone with a large screen.

One-size certainly doesn't fit all. Buy what you need, not what other people think you should have. (but I don't think anyone should buy the w995 ;p )

OK b00m/b000m/b0000m - I take your point. Different phones for different needs. But the fact that the San Fran is only ~£100 makes this W995 look seriously overpriced, imo. I certainly don't think this phone is a bargain, even after quidco.

I have this phone. The music players's great, I have about 8gb of music (on the supplied M2 card) on it and the skip and play buttons on the side are very handy if you like to skip songs without taking the phone out of your pocket. It also has a 3.5 mm jack and the sound quality is excellent with a decent set of headphones. Battery life is good too, I get about three days if I turn the 3G off.

Only downside is the internet, even when 3G is enabled it is really slow. Okay for checking email and Facebook but impossible to do any real surfing.
