I used to have one of these. Quite old now, but a pretty good phone. Amazing for £18 (there is a 10% off code too).

#5

#6
The C600 is £29.99 I believe.
#7

#9
C600 = £34.99 but then use 10% so £31.49
#10

You decide yourself.

(forget the iMate brand, it is same phone)

Lower memory and low res camera for a starter

cheers, camera i dont care about tbh, memory ive got a 1gb memory card here somewhere from my old phone.
Cheers
#17
well fact its got wifi and better screen and wm5 for me would make it worth that extra moolah i think
#18
I still use one of these - bought it from the refurb store a good while ago (for £50 odd). Has served me well, but my aggressive txting and repeated drops haven't been too kind to the keyboard. Still, good thing. Works well, and I can use mobipocket to read books on the train...

Yup, don't know where people are getting wifi from. The M2000 has it, in fact if you were after a cheap pda I'd go for that.

Still keep my c500 as a spare phone. Works well with Tomtom mobile too if you have a bluetooth gps unit.

Great old phone.

Hi, I have both the C500 and the C600. The c500 is the older of the two (August 2004), and is a great robust and quick phone, it replaced the SPV E200 which was a lathargic brick by comparson! The c500 runs Windows Mobile 2003 SE.

The c600 is more modern (November 2005), Has a better screen QVGA, and runs Windows Mobile 5, but suffers from joystick problems (the c550 also did) this is due to dust getting to the joystick contacts on the circuit board - it is a real pain, but can be fixed if you dont mind taking the phone apart and spraying contact cleaner on the joystick contacts!

NEITHER the C500 or C600 HAVE WIFI

The C600 is made by HTC and is known as the TORNADO but sold under various names for different operators. The only Wifi enabled versions of the TORNADO are the I-mate SP5 and SP5m, qtek 8300 and 8310 and O2 XDA IQ. Other versions cannot have wifi enabled as they dont have the chip inside!

if you want Wifi you need to go for the SPV M600, M1000 (same as the original O2 XDA) or M2000 (same as the O2 XDA 2S)

I used to have an M2000 but found it a huge phone and not that easy to carry around.

All the Bluetooth enabled SPV phones will run TomTom Navigation software with a suitable Bluetooth GPS receiver. The M600, 1000 and 2000 wil run TomTom navigator, whilst the SPV C500 and C600 run TomTom mobile.

Both c500 and c600 are locked to orange, but can easily be unlocked using programs downloadable from the internet. You will also need to "application unlock" the phone before running any non-orange signed software (such as the unlocking program), but this is easy to do via the orange developers website.

GSMArena says iMate version & Qtek version have WiFi.
Maybe Orange got it disabled.

Agreed that c500 is hotter for its price if both are non WiFi.
#29
think i might just save up and wait for the mwg zinc 2
#30
As a previous owner of a c500 & c600 (infact i still have them somewhere) i can safely say neither have wifi, the c600 was supposed to have it but orange bought the cheaper version from htc that has no wifi chip.

Both can be unlocked for free via usb cable with the correct program :)

Also if i remember right the c600 has a slightly higher screen res & looks so much nicer than the c500. In fact i still use my c600 as my going out phone to save my Vario 2 getting beaten up :) It really is a nice little trusty phone
#31
very good phone but also very old i think its at least 3 if not 4 years old although i may be wrong
#32
This phone acts as a great modem for any Laptop, plus with Orange you can get all day browsing for a £1 via PAYG. I'd recommend it for that alone and it is a great phone.
#33
seems to be sold out now lol
#34
I used to have one of these - not bad phone at all
#35
expired now
#36
expiring on multiple reports
#37
My favourite phone ever!

Way ahead of its time....Was playing divx's, running tomtom etc long before the others.

If they rereleased this with 3g I'd definitely get it. Add wifi and integrated sat nav and it'd be the best phone on the market!

It wasn't without it's bigs tho but the phone was so good you learned to put up with them.
#38
my biggest worry is that these are all very old phones and so the reconditioned condition won't be great for sure
#39
I still have my C500 and sold the first SVP [Canary] on ebay a while back . I liked these smartphones , the C500 was claimed to be the smallest ever smartphone . I downloaded loads of stuff for mine , programs /software/unlockers ,etc .Still have it on disk .There was a nice proggy that turned your phone into a security cam . It took still pictures at timed interval .....seconds or minutes .Theres was the talking clock and the proggy that was a timer ...with the air raid siren tone. Yes , it brings back memories .................no ...not of the Air Raids !.....of the phone !

Damn, I missed this earlier. Anyone who has bought one might be interested in this :

I got £15 for installing the software and £30 every 6 months for having it installed.
