Over £200 on ebay.

How easy is it to unlock? The only Orange Windows devices I've unlocked are the Windows smartphone based C500 and C600 which were easy to do - hoping this is similar?

I still use an XDA Mini S for sat nav in the car, this package is tempting as it has the receiver onboard which is a bit more convenient.

anyone know if you can upgrade the O.S to WM6??
#8
Loads of info in it here

According to the FAQ there it has the hardware inside it for a GPS which can be enabled if you know what you are doing. Anyone have any further info on this?
Dave.

I'm pretty sure that this comes GPS enabled by Orange already, it was one of their main selling points when I looked at this phone when my contract was up for renewal several months ago but the lack of a keyboard put me off. I went for the M3100 in the end. The upgrade to that will probably be my next phone, the HTC TyTn II.
#10
GPS is fitted to the phone and is on COM9

will run Tomtom etc. from Micro SD card slot
#11
Yes, you can upgrade this to Windows Mobile 6 by flashing the ROM. I have T Mobile MDA Vario II, and flash upgraded it to WM6.

GSMARENA.COM - apparently crashes all the time. I'll stick to my N800

The HTC phones from that time are a bit of a pain.

I have a HTC wizard - which is a larger version of that with a slide out keypad - and unless you are an enthusiast from the computing side - they are more a project than a phone.

In saying that - unlocking was easy (details on the XDA developers site) and mine runs far better with WM6 installed now. Wifi is good, but disconnects infuriatingly frequently.

The small screen is annoying, and I find myself looking at returning to a more modern camera phone, and probably an EEE.

Apparently these can take giant sized micro SDHC cards - people have reported 8Gbytes (cost 30 quid) work. Makes it a rather useful mp3 player.

More generally, these sorts of phones aren't the best for data entry, because of the lack of a kb. Web browsing ain't the best either, because of lowish resolution and screen size (iphone is considerably better).

Having said that, you get a heck of a lot of capability for your money here: mp3 via the large storage, satnav, 3G, bazillions of pocketpc apps (eg I keep an old HTC prophet simply for the guitar tuner!). If you're willing to tweak, it's immensely capable.

I have the m600 and I love it...so very useful and TomTom runs superbly with a Holux GPS (chewing gum packet one)...may consider this and sell my m600...hmmm..yet more money.....

looks pretty cool, someone said it can be flashed to WM6? Few questions..

1. Will the flash unlock it?
2. Will flashing it unbrand it?
3. Where do you get WM6 from ?

Cheers.

Lots of unlocking/flashing/tweaking answers (WM6 etc) here:

You see, I'm very tempted here... :) Voted hot.

I really want something a little bit iPhone-esque which isn't made by Apple. :-/

Hi all, this is not an official orange site (it's owned by the Cauldwell group) and the phone is a refurb. Still a great deal if you want a PDA phone.,

Should be, unless they sell out!!!
#32
I have one of these. Bought it from eBay for £100 from a seller who received it as an upgrade. I only use it as a PDA as I use a SPV E650 instead.
#33
Very tempting... I'd been considering one of these a few weeks ago.

Does the £3.70 Orange quidco work with the orange accessories site btw?
#34
Can someone please confirm that this phone comes with a built in gps, and if yes does it works with tomtom?

Ever since I've had a Windows Mobile based PDA phone, there's no way I can go back to a normal phone. Sure, these things are bigger and heavier, but with tweaking and installing the right apps, it's like carrying a mobile PC with you. After tweaking and installing the right apps, there's very little you can't do on a Windows Mobile based PDA.

Having an unlimited data plan helps too.
