Don't touch them with a barge pole! We were left for 3 months (after they said it would all be connected) with no phone or broadband because they were trying to install it on a neighbours line (despite us checking the address with them repeatedly). Several hours spent on the phone and days taken off work to wait in for engineers etc later and I wish we had stayed with Plusnet - great service all round with them. Would definitely never use Orange again!
i called them up and they said this is for existing orange mobile customers, anyone else tried this and is not an orange customer and managed to get deal?

Orange are trying to get us off the BB Unlimited deal, have you not received a letter or email. They have told those receiving free BB that they are stopping it. Have a look at the thread on MSE

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=4133021

I never had their free BB offer, always paid £5 for Unlimited and my second line is working fine. People concerned in MSE forum had their free BB offer removed, I would be pi**ed off too

You do realize that there is no call package with that deal.

Good luck with joining Orange broadband. I await your post to update us on how much you are regretting it. All I can say is don't. Honestly, don't do it. Please google the reviews of their broadband first. Seriously look into hard first. They are offering good join up deals because they are losing customers rapidly because of how crap it is. Really, its just not worth the hassle.

They told me that when I was signed up, I was connected to a slow I.P address and so they cancelled my internet (without warning) and connected it to the faster, correct I.P address. They fob you off. Hundreds, thousands even, of people have had the same issue. And CS are terrible. They said they'd give me 2 month free, because of the first month of 0.5mb of speed. They say it will be taken off of next months bill. They say this every month. I'm still waiting.......

S**T! :(

Correct Orange link, yes they are giving 1000 mobile minutes! https://broadband.orange.co.uk/home
Above link dosent work. T Mobile offering similar to its customers, £5 more if you are a non customer. Here is a working link to that deal http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/home-broadband/
Orange gave great service until they got did of their own equipment at our exchange and moved to bt connect as per other ISPs. My speeds are now a third of what they were up and down. Even iPlayer is painful with the stuttering service. I've wasted hours on phone to their Indian call center. Make sure your local ok orange service is ok before you buy, or you could end up with a poor connection like mine.
I had bad experience with Orange , poor speed, unreliable connection
is bet this will only apply to certain areas, if u live out of a town they won't offer it for that price

Still with orange, unfortunately. Customer service has improved slightly but the service is still rubbish. Terrible for bandwidth throttling & speed. Renders the internet pretty much unuseable alot of the time for anything other than browsing sites, streaming & gaming are a no at anything other than off peak times. Peak times are 4.30pm to 11.30pm.

According to orange they do not traffic manage your connection. Network Management Policy

Also, they have top of ofcoms report last year for customer service and now top which report on router speed.
http://consumers.ofcom.org.uk/2011/07/customer-service-satisfaction-levels-revealed/
I've been with Plusnet, O2, and now Orange.

- Plusnet is good, but to keep it cheap, we only had a 10GB download limit (peak time) which obv wasnt enough, and to increase to a different package, the costs would be too high.

- Then switched to O2 and it was the best for me, no speed throttling and unlimited internet, and it was so cheap (£16 a month i think through Cashback).

- Now with Orange as Quidco offerd £150 cashback last June (Cashback has been Payable) so i'm effectively only paying around £9 a month for both line rental and broadband. It is truly unlimited but Speed throttling is ridiculous. Sometimes the internet is very slow at peak times making youtube videos stop every 5 seconds. Plus playing online games or downloading Steam games is very slow. And sometimes the Wifi network drops (happens once to twice a day). Plus, I cant say that the Speed is any better during off-peak times unless it's something like the early hours of the morning, 2am+. Can't wait for the contract to be over and switch back to O2. Avoid! oO
Never go for Orange, Dead Box (Live box)+ Poor customer service+Slow Sync speed = the worst combination. Go for something solid such as O2, Bethere or Sky.
Primus saver : £6.79 + Plusnet : £6.49 = £13.28 for home phone and broadband

This orange deal is cold for me
With Orange at the moment and having no end of trouble, spoke to "customer service" on Friday night to try and sort a problem out (download speed of 0.01mbps) and gave up! Would move to somebody else like a shot but looking to move so not really much point. Avoid!

Hmmm nice one, must be needing the sales to get target lol
ah, looks like I was the beneficiary of mis-selling as I was given the box for free and still £30 on my account. Worth a shot for everyone else though. And was quite funny as the environment in the shop was just like the comedy 'Phone Shop'. Very testosterone fuelled!

I think customer service is really variable and probably not worth stopping you switching. With O2 I had horrendous experiences contacting them at the weekends, yet rang yesterday afternoon, got through in seconds to a very helpful person.

Some details about your offer for simply broadband offer if taken in-store, you will pay £30 for the router (£30 credit back on account once connected) £15 if taken with a call plan (£5 off peak calls £10 anytime calls), you WILL NOT receive the vouchers unless you have received a direct marketing leaflet and that is only if you connect with a talk plan i'm sure. Call another store to check if i'm right ;-) It sounds as if someone's not been kept in the loop. OR they are talking mince to get a sale.
poor speed but I did get my £100 quidco without a hitch last year. Leaving them now though.

CHEEPSTUFFRULES!
They rent all the infrastructure and field engineers from BT which causes most of the problems.

Isn't that the same with all ASDL providers?

Exactly, It's a shame that not all people see it's a great deal seeing as ofcom have awarded them awards for customer services. Plus I'm with talktalk and they are appauling

Orange has the best value unlimited broadband. They also recently got voted no.1 for best Customer Service by ofcom. It's a bit harsh to jump on a good deal due to one or two customers bad experience. All ISP's have their issues.

If they do have the best customer service god knows what the others are like.

@rollout, did you go via quidco? , Ive noticed that it only says £70 cashback on quidco site? I too was told £150 on saturday when I signed up. Has yours tracked into your account as £150 yet or are u still waiting. Any answers will be of great help.. Thanks Daniel
Just been on the phone to Orange on the above number and a lady has advised me that this offer is still on with the £150 Quidco cashback if anyone is still interested in taking it out. Re the requirement for a BT line, even if you have a dormant line, they can re-activate it for free - if it requires an engineer to come out, they will charge £60.00. Hope this helps.
Off peak calls with Unlimited broadband and line rental comes to an awesome £8.29 per month after cashback! Cheaper than any line rental on it's own!

ONLY PROBLEM: Just called them and was told that because I'm with Sky the cannot take over my line! oO:(
I have to be either on a BT line or a Post Office line.... Though the post office offer one month rolling contracts, the cashback deal will expire tonight!
Do you have to have a BT line for this or do Orange come and install a new line? We are with Virgin Media at the moment for all our telephone and broadband services. Thanks
Do you get cashback if only broadband is taken without landline? WHich means it will cost us £10 a month and get £150 cashback :)

Before taking on Orange broadband you might want to look at this site: http://www.orangeproblems.co.uk/phpBB2/recent.php

Voted hot because the deals not bad and I was considering it myself a couple of weeks ago, but read the reviews and that site and decided not too. Went to O2 instead.

I'm not sure you'll get a very balanced picture by going to a site called orangeproblems?

I'm pretty sure you won't - but would you want a product that many seem to think so bad they create a website to list the problems?

Hi

I am currently on Orange broadband and phone (evenings and weekends). I can only have praise for it - speeds is always about 4MB and no disruption in services for past 8 months!

I wanted to know if OP can guide. Is it possible to take up Primus phone and just have Orange broadband? - I thought that was not possible. Would they allow me to do it as I am on 18 month contract or I cannot do this now until 18 months are up?

They signed me up ok, Primus paid BT to setup my line so I guess it's effectively a BT line anyway.

Max-Power
orange bb was shocking before, not sure about now...

Still shocking now. Switched from O2 and speed has dropped from 13Mbps to around 4, even though it's the same line and both are 20 Meg services. The router is dreadful and needs a reset every few hours - devices like internet radios are unusable as they just keep cutting off.

When we called about the poor speed, the best suggestion from the overseas call centre was to delete the browser cache!

Cheaper though. But you really get what you pay for.

Hi mate, the cold votes is probably from those who don't like retention deals being posted. I on the other hand believe that it helps when negotiating with your network so it's all good.

Have some heat from me for taking the trouble to let us know what you got.

PS
It might be a good idea for the mods to set up a retentions forum where we can post retention deals and that could be grouped into the various networks etc.

Great deal - will see what they say to me on friday!
£229 + £567 (£31.50 x 18) = £796

So £800 for a phone tht il prob use for just calling and texting mostly - not bad!

the alternatives for £800:
pay off two months mortgage, book a two week holiday to the carribean, pay car insurance for the year, pay off a fifth of my student loans, flag my garden, get a new plasma TV and Blu ray player, pay off the leccy and gas bill over next 6 months or pay off my counicl tax for next 10 months

deffinately a case of money over sense

so think il give this a miss !
Interesting my contracts not up til begining of next year... although i only pay £15 a month which i negotiated too after about 6 years of orange contract also... i guess they would want to bump me up to some £30+ a month contract again!!

And, hot deal OP, but with Oranges Line Rental, so they will sting you for calls.
You also get free off peak calls, so they don;t really sting you for calls. Also, if you pay an extra £2.50 per month you get free anytime calls.

Careful now! You need to look at the T&C + Price List (which I've downloaded) and you will notice that Orange charges you 5p per minute on third party provider calls made abroad. BT charges are 0.5p per minute for the same service. An 1 hour call with orange would cost you therefore £3 and with BT the same call cost you 30p. This is a huge difference if you make overseas' calls regularely (like me).

This is what I meant with "hidden" complicated tariffs, which are confusing and people usually pay more in the end.

Look at your pattern of how you use your phone and then calculate the difference using their price list. In my case Orange would only be topped by Virgin Media for cost. BT/o2 combined services or Post Office/o2 in my case are the cheapest.

what is the early termination fee?

Ts&Cs below, so you might need to fork out the full £12.50 to terminate your contract.

17. term and termination

17.1 You may cancel these Agreements at any time prior to the Start Date. You agree that we shall begin the provision of the Services on the Start Date. After the Start Date you will not be able to end these Agreements except as set out in this paragraph 17. This does not affect any statutory rights that you have as a consumer, if those rights cannot be excluded or limited. Please contact your local authority Trading Standards Department or the Citizens Advice Bureau for information on your statutory rights. If you are an existing customer taking broadband services and you subscribe for either Broadband Starter or Broadband Unlimited you may be required to commit to a new Minimum Period.

17.2 The Agreements may be terminated as follows:
17.2.1 by us on 30 days' notice, unless we terminate pursuant to paragraphs 2.2, 2.4, 2.5, 9.3 and 15.8 with less notice or without notice;
17.2.2 by you giving notice if we inform you of a material change to the Services or we give notice of an amendment to the relevant Agreement pursuant to paragraph 18, where such changes are to your detriment, and your notice shall take effect upon the earlier of seven days from our receipt of your notice or the date upon which the amended Agreement or Services would otherwise have taken effect; or
17.2.3 subject to paragraphs 17.1 and by you giving us 30 days' notice.

17.3 If you give notice of termination of the Broadband Starter Agreement, or we terminate that agreement pursuant to paragraph 2.3, 2.6, 9.3 or 15.8 during the Minimum Period, you must pay all Charges that would otherwise have been payable under the Broadband Starter Agreement during the Minimum Period. If you give notice of termination of the Broadband Unlimited Agreement, or we terminate that agreement pursuant to paragraph 2.3, 4.9 9.3 or 15.8 during the Minimum Period, you must pay all Charges that would otherwise have been payable under the Broadband Unlimited Agreement during the Minimum Period.

17.3.1 In order to transfer your service to a different provider you need to request a MAC code that you should give to your new broadband provider. You can request to receive the MAC Code by email or letter. We aim to provide the MAC Code to you within 5 working days of your contacting us. A Mac Code expires after 30 days. We can only provide a new Code once the previous one has expired. The request of a MAC code does not immediately cancel an account.

17.3.2 When you terminate your Broadband Agreement and any Minimum Period has expired the termination is subject to 30 days’ notice that will be applied to your Broadband account when the MAC Code is used. Further details about MAC Codes are available here.

17.3.3 After your new broadband service provider receives the MAC code normally your broadband connection will be switched to the new service provider within 10 working days.

17.4 If you give notice of termination of the Broadband Starter Agreement, or we terminate that agreement pursuant to paragraph 2.5, 9.3, 15.8 or 17.4 during the Minimum Period, you must pay all the charges for Broadband Starter as if you did not receive that service as part of this offer (at the standard charge set out on our Price List) from the date of termination until the end of the Minimum Period.

17.5 We may also terminate the Agreements or any part of them or suspend the supply of any of the Services to you, immediately and without notice if:
17.5.1 if you cease to be Eligible;
17.5.2 you breach these Terms of Use;
17.5.3 you or any person using your account misuses the Services in any way, including, without limitation, misuse in the manner set out under paragraph 9;
17.5.4 bankruptcy or other insolvency proceedings are brought against you, or if you are unable to pay your debts as they become due or fail to make payments as they fall due;
17.5.5 you are no longer able lawfully to receive the Services;
17.5.6 you no longer have an appropriate residential telephone account as required in these Terms of Use;
17.5.7 we receive a complaint from a third party that appears to be justified regarding your use of the Services; or
17.5.8 we can no longer provide the Services or provide the Services in a way that we deem appropriate.

17.6 If any of the events detailed in paragraph 17.4 occur as a result of your default, we may suspend the Services or any one Service without prejudice to our right to terminate the Broadband Starter Agreement or Broadband Unlimited Agreement. Where the Services are suspended under this paragraph 17.5 you must continue to pay all the Charges due in respect of the Services until the Agreements are terminated.

17.7 On termination of any of the Agreements we will have the right to automatically terminate the remaining Agreement immediately and without further notice to you.

17.8 As permitted by law on termination of the Agreements, we reserve the right to reuse the telephone number that was allocated to you.

17.9 On termination of the Agreements for whatever reason, you agree to return the Equipment or the Livebox (or both if applicable) and all parts of them to us.

17.10 Termination in accordance with this paragraph 17 shall not prejudice or affect any right of action or remedy which shall have accrued or shall thereafter accrue to any party and all provisions which are expressed to survive these Agreements or impliedly do so shall remain in full force and effect.

17.11 In the event of termination, all the information we are storing on your behalf on our servers may be deleted and in particular we may delete all the emails in your email account. Charges billed and/or paid in advance to the end of the next billing period shall not be pro rated or refunded.
