Normally you can have full access to your credit report for 30 days for free. By law, credit agencies are obliged to provide anyone their credit report for a reasonable fee. This was available by post, but I just realised that you can also order it online (also by phone for £3.50 and by post for £2). It looked a great deal as you don't need to check your credit everyday do you?
The report will be posted to the most recent address within 7 days.

-Edit:
Maybe I wasn't clear enough: this is the printed credit report, previously only available by printing off a form and attaching a cheque of £2; now it is available to REQUEST it online and RECCEIVING it by post!

credit report loophole…

As part of the monitoring service you get to see your credit file online whenever you want, and laid out in a much easier to understand way than if you order the statutory file.

Therefore sign up, then view your file at no cost, either instantly or after they've sent a passcode, and then cancel the subscription. Even though they allow 30 days, it's best to cancel straight away as leave it a month and you may forget.

The different systems are as follows:

*

Experian’s Credit Expert.

Details: Credit Expert* offers a ‘free 30 day trial then £6.99 per month' service which includes your credit report, so if you want your credit reference file just sign up and cancel this. Don’t confuse it with the Credit Score service which costs a one off £5.95.

How to cancel: It makes it very easy, just call the free-phone number 0800 656 9000
*

Equifax’s Credit Watch Gold.

Details: Credit Watch Gold* has two options, one at £7.50 a month, but the one you need to choose is the ‘Free for 30 days and then £69.99 for the year'. When you sign up a payment card will need to be authorised but the £1 fee is not actually charged to your card if you cancel in time.

How to cancel: To request cancellation call 0870 0100583 and quote your account reference.

Fine, but you won't be able to see it once you have used your 30-day free trial! :)

I have mentioned ALL of these in the original post; but IMO what make this post a good deal is that it saves you the hassle of printing a form, attaching a cheque, and sending in the post, as it can be done ONLINE! :whistling:

VERY COLD -- and I'll tell you why -- the online version you get IS NOT THE WHOLE THING!!!
I got turned down for a mortgage a couple years back, and the lender said it was down to the credit-record -- I got my online copy from Experian for £8.50 (you could get the one by mail for £2, but online was more). I then had a fight for 4 weeks with the lender because my copy didn't show the problem. When I finally got the printed one from Experian, it DID show a problem which was a mistake by a credit-card company -- I then got the credit-card company to clear the mistake but by then it was too late and I'd had to go for a different mortgage, so the whole thing probably cost me around £8000!!!!! Obviously the fault was mainly the credit-card company, but if the on-line Experian report had been the full report I could have solved the problem in time. And, with them touting themselves as the solution to problems with credit, they really should provide a better service. SO, DON'T BUY THIS!!!! GET THE PRINTED VERSION FOR £2 INSTEAD!!!

Voted Cold. Why should we have to pay a company that benefits from other peoples misery. I have tried to get my details changed because a company that owes me money has wrongly given details to the credit agencies that i am a debtor. The credit agencies will not remove this damaging information and refer me to the company that owes me money. They wont even reply to me any more. Credit reference agencies are the scum of the earth.
