Prepare for Titanfall. Crafted by one of the co-creators of Call of Duty and other key developers behind the Call of Duty franchise, Titanfall is an all-new universe juxtaposing small vs. giant, natural vs. industrial and man vs. machine. The visionaries at Respawn have drawn inspiration from their proven experiences in first-person action and with Titanfall are focused on bringing something exciting the next generation of multiplayer gaming.
Fast-Paced Future Warfare – In Titanfall the advanced warfare of tomorrow gives you the freedom to fight your way as both elite assault Pilot and agile, heavily armored 24’ tall Titans. Titanfall rethinks fundamental combat and movement giving players the ability to change tactics on the fly, attacking or escaping depending on the situation.
The Future of Online Multiplayer Action – The game is entirely multiplayer, in a new experience that combines fast-paced online action with the heroic set piece moments traditionally found in campaign mode. The intersection of the two is a big part of what gives Ttianfall its iconic identity.
The Visionaries that Defined Gaming for a Generation are back! — Founded in 2010, Respawn Entertainment was formed by Vince Zampella and Jason West, former co-founders of Infinity Ward and two of the co-creators of the multi-billion dollar franchise Call of Duty™ They are building on their pedigree and taking a new approach to game design and creating an all new universe with Titanfall.

Managed to grab it for £15 from Ebay last week. Might be worth looking on Ebay UK or Ebay US :)

Careful with such talk, Buzz'! The 'moderating team' are currently taking a dim view of people having a sense of humour...

P.S. You didn't mention the Xbox 360 version which has a more stable frame rate than the Xbox One version!

I've not played it on the 360 yet, but gave it a shot on the PC during the free weekend.

Sure, the higher resolution makes it sharper but I found the framerate to be far more inconsistent than the XBO version. Colony seemed to struggle more than it should have when playing it.

Overall I feel it played better on the Xbox One.

Console games are always more expensive than the PC version. They use the game sales to compensate for selling the hardware at a loss (initially).

Go back 20 years when NES games were £69.99 - now you're talking expensive.

Let's not drift off-topic though - £18 for the PC is a bargain either way.

We will just agree with my comparison regarding the difference between next gen capability's.

Bringing the X360 into the comparison would be like bringing a Gameboy to the fight. (_;)

Played 8 hours of this, the first day I got it. 2nd day = 3. Every other day = 0.
I'd recommend picking it up below a tenner. 50GB is ridiculous, too.
But I seriously enjoyed it while I did play it :)

this is a real good price but i had a similar game time as ben38sufc. I bought it on release and...well...the game kina died a death. the drop off rate is mad! also considering respawn removed modes because people wasnt playing has to be a bad sign!

defo try in on a free weekend before purchase!

Currently running the trial on my media centre which is getting on a bit (quad core 2.3ghz and HD 6670) and runs surprisingly well. Also nice to play a PC game with a pad.

But I'd echo the posts above and say that I can take or leave it. I think COD has ruined a whole generation of FPS players (inc me) and I just can't be arsed with the Titan element.

You can just put your titan in guard mode and it will go do it's own thing.

Not to mention the whole parkour aspect of the game. Pretty sure you can't wallrun or wallhang on CoD. It really is nothing like CoD.

Minish Cap was probably my favorite handheld Zelda game. Shame Capcom didn't do anymore of them beauties...
That 3-stage boss at the end though was painfully hard (for me anyway when I was aged about 10) :P

I'm enjoying this game. I got sick to death with COD with its sniping, camping, spawn killing nonsense (I retired from COD after MW3). Titanfall shares some aspects like the fast pace and solid controls but none of the above are an issue. I think I only ever saw one camper/sniper. Everyone else is running and bouncing all over the place :p

I paid £15 and I'm happy with that. :)

Overall I feel it played better on the Xbox One.

That's your PC I'm afraid. It never drops below 60FPS on my machine and it would go higher if it wasn't capped at 60.

It's not capped at 60.

There's nothing 'wrong' with my PC. The 'recommended' settings of the game are way less than my spec, yet 1080p is unplayable. I would have to play at a much less resolution to obtain stable FPS, which defies the purpose. I can do that on my console without ever having to worry about upgrading it.

If your maxing out all the settings or use crazy high anti-aliasing then it will affect the frame rate. You need to tone down some settings until you reach a desired frame rate. If possible could you share your GPU so I can check if anyone has benchmarked it yet.

Also the Recommended specs may not cover resolution, for all we know the it could be 900p like the Xbox One version. Or just check http://www.notebookcheck.net/Titanfall-Benchmarked.113907.0.html

When I was a console player I would have said OMG £17.99! on a new game. But now I am a PC GAMER I am like...

By the time I finish playing all the games I have gotten on the summer steam sale this will be £7.99.

Looks like a good game though, although I am surprised that people are saying keep them interested for more than a couple of days.

I'm pretty sure the PC version is capped at 60 FPS unless you use backdoor methods to unlock it. I run the game maxed out at 1440p and it never drops below 60 FPS. Ergo, it's a problem with your hardware.

It's basis is the source engine and it's one of the most scalable big budget FPS games of the last few years but it will still suffer if you don't have the right video card and CPU to back it up.

The 2 modes they removed have been put back in. They're also adding 2 new modes - Marked For Death, and Wingman Last Titan Standing - in a free update that's being released next week, which also includes titan burn cards, titan customisation, and a couple of other bits and pieces.

The last update removed the 60fps cap, so now allows a 144fps setting if your hardware supports it.

Again, no - it's not my hardware. I run a quad-core 3ghz CPU (Core2Extreme X9650) with 8GB RAM and a Nvidia GTX 570, which should be more than enough to run this at 1080p. OS is on a 256GB SSD (Windows 7 x64). There's absolutely no reason why it should struggle.

To clarify some mistunderstanding above,

- Titanfall (Xbox One) displays at a comically poor 1408×792 screen resolution

- Titanfall (PC) runs at a PC's monitor refresh rate (provided the PC has the power, obviously) so will run at 60fps, 120fps or 144fps depending on the refresh rate of your PC's display panel. (I believe it once ran at a set 60fps regardless of the monitor's refresh rate but this was fixed by a patch some time ago)

Anyone who believes the hugely inferior Xbox One version of Titanfall, with its,

- laughably low display resolution
- frequent screen tearing
- frequently crashing frame rate that on occasion drops to single digits
- crushed blacks
- vastly inferior anti-aliasing
- gamepad-only control method

...performs better than it does when played on a half decent PC is talking nonsense.

Nothing wrong with my setup. I'm being told left right and centre how a PC can handle a stable 1080p and especially considering the processor power I have at both CPU and GPU level, it should be a doddle. Thanks for proving otherwise. I'd consider a 7.3 Windows score to be more than respectable for 1080p gaming.
