Are we sure this is even free? Or do we all just have it already from ages ago and forget about it?? :D

This was free last March-May apparently: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Origin%27s_On_the_House_games

Showing dead in Bermuda for me, however...
I know we don't have a time machine but this was free ages ago (I think) it's in my origin games collection along with sims 2 complete edition, battlefield 3, mass effect, dungeon keeper, plants vs zombies, theme hospital and sim city 2000. Only game I've paid for is sims 4 + expansions as daughter loves it.
Same.

I played the game for a good few hours yesterday. Bloody great fun. I won some and lost some, but I didn't feel too miffed at the losses, which is always a good sign. Definitely a future purchase.
Just had a few games online and loved it! Definitely get your fair share of kills without being killed all the time! Love the Titan mechanics! Glad i bought the game yesterday thanks to Buzz's TGC post! Thanks Buzz! X)

Great game, doesnt get any where near enough credit it should. Both games released with FREE dlc packs
Rare in the gaming industry
Titanfall (1) wasn't released with free DLC, they made the decision after 18 months or so when the season pass became free.
A decision out of necessity rather than generosity. They have never been able to achieve a player population large enough that they could split it with a season pass.

Well worth checking out for free though. It's nice they include the training and the first level so you can practice wall sliding without getting insta-deleted :).
Awesome game, just got the platinum (that damn gauntlet leader board...) and just getting into the multiplayer. Perfect excuse!

Loved this game back in the day, the whole theme of the Toy factory and automatons was such a wonderful story.
However the sequel was a direct continuation of Syberia 1 - so I'm not sure this is any good to someone picking it up halfway through a fabulous story. It would be like picking up on the Harry Potter series halfway through.
Not quite - I have this on Steam, and there is a "Previously in Syberia" section with a potted run through of the first game.
Third one is due out soon....
(Problem is I need to get this one working under Wine somehow)
There's a third one on the way?! oh wow. Can't wait.
I had the originals back in the day - there wasn't any "previously on Syberia" section on those, so didn't realise. Still would have been nicer if they just gave both as they are equally as good. :)

http://www.syberia.microids.com/EN/

According to various websites release date is late April (between 20th and 25th depending on location)

Didn't realise there was such finickety rules!

I couldn't find this deal anywhere on HotUKDeals, and only found it by looking in Origin. I'm sure other people would also like this deal highlighted to them.

This debate comes up EVERY time. It's tedious. If people don't like you posting it as a separate item then they have the free choice to jog on from this specific post.

I for one hadn't seen this deal and been after the game so thanks for posting!!

Decent game so far
Not completely impressed - the gameplay is very linear and repetitive. Unlike similar games in action, adventure, shooter I find myself a bit bored. Imo worth 10 but not more

Agreed, repetition similar to Battlefront - for obvious reasons

Fantastic game, you won't be disappointed.

If like me you completely suck at FPS', don't worry... Practice really pays off and PTFO will see you right too. I personally struggle to get a 1 to 1 K/D ratio, but often score in the top 10 or even top 5 by playing my character of choosings role.
You don't need to be a CS:GO master to be a success in this game.

Spot on, great game and very rewarding.

I'm looking for this price but for physical media instead of download... PC or PS4 would be great...
Why? Physical media is pointless, the files on the disc will be out of date, so Origin will just have to download the files anyway.
The license code is all you will actually use.

Because when the servers are turned off at some point... I can play off line at least.

You can't play offline, it won't let you.
It needs to sign you in before you can even play SIngle Player missions.
(Although they are really just "training mission" to get you used to multiplayer)

If the servers go off, you ain't playing - physical media makes no difference.

Why does it matter if the player base is low? Does that not just mean that the opponents are computer controlled?
As well as cheating, a big down side is that the DLC maps and modes on the PC tend to often be short of players.

I'd recommend saving the £££ and sticking to the base game, or going for a different platform altogether.
bulletfoss
LOADS of people still play this game, and it is cracking!
I don't play anymore though, as cheating on the PC has become an epidemic with this game.
I rarely play a single round without a cheater being present!

I grabbed the free 10 hour trial of it , Loved the game,But as you said the cheaters are literally everywhere,I thought CsGo was bad and it is , But this game makes CsGo cheating look tame,And that is saying something.
Such a shame as i would definitely get it at this price.

Battlefield 1 just doesn't have the long term value that 3 and 4 had to warrant spending this much on DLC. I think the proportion of the player base buying Premium this time around will be a lot less than with 3 and 4, which will mean most of available matches will be on the vanilla maps. Even with 3 and 4 it was far easier to find servers running vanilla maps than Premium DLC maps.

I think it will always be that way for more casual players but the impression I have is that BF1 is the most successful battlefield yet? The operations mode has changed the way multiplayer games are played and the premium pass elaborates on that.

The thread isn't about EA DLC bashing it's about whether its a good deal or not ;)

Stupid question but what is the difference between Origin Access and EA Access ? And is this just a PC thing or XBO as well ?
EA Access is for XB1, Origin Access is for PC, I'm pretty sure both have identical games and 10 hour trials for EA games.

Slightly different list of games, there's a lot more sports games on the Xbone that were never released on PC.
I'm on work wifi, Anyone able to share the list of games please?

hahaha. seems like free money for EA. X)

The only way I'd see this being a "hot deal" is if you really really are a fan of those "vault" games and you don't own them and have never played them
AND
just bought your first ever PC and have almost NO GAMES in your steam/origin/uplay/GOG library or you have played all of them already.
AND
you really spend lots of time playing games every day.

Otherwise you're just paying "extra tax" on Battlefield, FIFA, Sims 4, etc. and their respective season passes, weapon unlock passes, etc.

origin logoCompany History of Origin

Electronic Arts is one of the biggest names in gaming, and are the software firm responsible for huge titles like FIFA, Need for Speed and the Sims. Origin is the company's online sales platform and the best place to download any of EA's latest games. The platform has been around in some form since 2005, but has been known as Origin since 2011, when it was re-launched to distribute the Battlefield Expansion Pack. Now it is the easiest way to download new PC releases and add-ons for EA’s titles.

All of EA’s games can be downloaded at the Origin online shop at www.origin.com. The Origin platform needs to be downloaded onto your Mac or PC before you can use the service.

Ordering at Origin.com

To make a purchase online, all customers need to create an Origin Account. You just need to enter a few details and choose whether to receive the Origin Newsletter or not. Now you can complete your purchase as normal. The Origin software will be downloaded with your first purchase or separately at the download page.

Buying on Origin

Origin’s Loyalty Scheme

Origin Access is a membership only service that provides access to The Vault – a collection of games that can be played as much as you want – for a monthly amount. Members can also play upcoming EA games before they are released to the public and receive an automatic discount on new games, pre-orders, FIFA points and expansion packs.

Origin Access also takes the form of a social network, allowing members to interact with each other at the EA Access board. You can track what your contacts have purchased and what they are playing, exchange tips and seek support from EA staff.

Product categories at Origin.com

The Origin online store stocks the following product categories:

  • PC Games – This is the core of the Origin product range. PC games are divided into: action titles, adventures, MMO, online, puzzle, racing, RPG, shooter, simulation, sports games and strategy titles.
  • Free games – You can also download a selection of free games by EA. These include full versions, trials or demos and betas of popular titles.
  • Mac Games – Origin also stocks selected titles for the Apple Mac. This includes popular titles like the Sims, Sim City and RPGs like Dragon Age.

origin game fifa

When shopping on the Origin store, customers can filter out their results. Products can be filtered by genre, price point, franchise, availability, rating, publisher, developer, number of players and language. So finding the title you want should be easy.

Origin is not exclusively a platform for games by Electronic Arts. Other brands are represented on the site, including:

  • Capcom
  • Codemasters
  • Focus Home Interactive
  • Paradox Interactive
  • Ubisoft
  • Nordic Games
  • Deep Silver

In the past, Origin have actually jumped the gun, announcing their Black Friday deals a few days earlier than other gaming retailers, so keep your eyes peeled before the day itself.

Shipping Options from Origin.com

All Origin products are downloadable and nothing is sent via post. To download games, all you need to do is install the Origin software. You can shop via that software itself or head to the website.

All games will be downloaded into your own My Games library on your computer. In some cases, it might be necessary to customise your Origin account to ensure that payments are not made by family members. In situations like this, you can securely save your payment information.

To make your payments secure, you need to uncheck the “save payment” tab on the checkout page. Whenever you make a purchase the system will request your card details, instead of automating the payments process.

Returning Items to Origin

Origin offers full refunds on all titles downloaded from their system under their Great Game Guarantee.

However, shoppers should be aware that not all Origin stocked titles are covered by the guarantee. Not all third party suppliers have chosen to participate. At the checkout, you can see whether your product is covered or not.

You can return any item and claim a full refund, but you must do so up to 24 hours after first launching the game, or within 7 days of making the purchase.

  1. To request a refund, head to the “order history” section of your Origin Account.
  2. Select “Request a Refund” next to the product in question.
  3. Now, complete the Refund Request Form and press “Submit”.
  4. Within 48 hours, Origin will get back to you and a refund should be provided within 10 days.
