but all map types are pretty cheap on millets after quidco and free shipping and the 20% code 'FINAL20'
os explore 1:25000 £5.40 = £4.32
os active (plastic coated) explorer 1:25000 £9 = £7.20
os landranger 1:50000 £5.40 = £4.32

My Explorers are 1:25000 (2½" to 1 mile) and Landrangers are 1:50000 (1¼" to 1 mile).
I've just bought some at just over a fiver each and I thought that was a good deal.

Great price.

I'm thinking of spending the money I was going to use as a deposit on a new car to buy all 812 for £3,507.84.
Then I can just walk (or cycle) anywhere I want.

On a slightly more serious note... how does the digital download work (it's a long time since I last bought an OS map):
- is there a specific App I need to open it (will it work on my Windows Phone)?
- can I open it on more than one device - so my daughter can 'borrow' the digital version?

If you want the lot you are better off buying MM, Anquet or similar and printing them out when you need them - or using an electronic device - £50 whole of GB

the digital copy is one use only, set up an account online, and download the app, (android, iphone os, not sure about windows), then click on redeem digital map, ok, then download it, when you are out and about open the app, and click on the locator it'll take you to the offline stored map location. to be honest in good gps/4g coverage you can view all areas/maps, i just know from personal experience maps dont always load if you use a webbrowser or app in a sketchy reception area, hence the benefit of offline maps already downloaded..

share you user id account to your daughter so she can use
os maps is £20 a year membership for all maps access or free. i tend to download maps i want and sell on the paper maps i will not use, (no annual fee) and second hand value is good.

Bing maps in OS mode is a good free alternative , built in print or use a screen dump

I've never heard anyone (until now) refer to a 1:50,000 map as being 1¼" to 1 mile (which would be 1:50,688) rather than 2cm:km (in spite of being a surveyor for 20 years); how quaint.
Regardless of that, this is a good deal. Having retired for mainstream work I can't get OS maps free any more, so I've just paid for my first one (ever) to replace Sheet 132 that someone has 'borrowed' from my set (maps are like books - never loan them unless you can afford to not see them again). £4.32 was a good price, so I've added some heat.

There's nothing 'quaint' about it. The figures are as exactly printed on the title page of the maps I've bought.
As the figures are provided by OS feel free to approach them about using an approximation.
In the past they have used 1:63360 for 1" to 1 mile which is accurate.

It's the scale of the maps. Explorer (1:25,000) covers a smaller area in more detail. Landranger (1:50,000) covers a larger area in less detail. Which you get depends on what your needs are.

Anyone else ordered OL17 with digital version and had it cancelled, even though you can order it off their website? :|

A shame that, snowdon must be a popular one, I got it from millets or blacks a few months ago on a similiar deal must be out of stock, jdsports group of companies websites can be notoriously bad for stock updates

It doesn't seem to show live stock levels on their website, unless it quickly came back into stock. 2 others I ordered in the adjacent areas (OL18 & 23) were dispatched really quickly and they arrived today. I've ordered OL17 again to see what happens :). If it gets cancelled again I might order the active map. Thanks for the post.
