My neighbour recently bought a 2010 BMW 318i Sport Plus in black with a full BMW main dealer service history & only 39k on the clock for £4900

I know the arguments about new cars etc.....but given the choice between this lease deal & the outright purchase of the BMW I would choose the BMW....

At the end of 2 years the lease will have cost almost £9k with nothing to show & a limited mileage .... the BMW will still have cost under £5k & still be worth between £3k & £4k

Would I rather have 2 years motoring in a luxury German car at a cost of £2k or £9k ?? The 5 year old BMW is like a brand new car inside

2010, 318i, luxury? I beg to differ.
So let's get this straight...

You're comparing a genuine deal that people can get to some completely made up nonsense that someone has told you, which you go on to admit isn't an option for anyone considering this particular deal?

Do you think we're all hard of thinking?

I've just put one of those cars that pgilc1 posted links to into We Buy Any Car and they're offering £9,000 for it.

There is not a company on this planet that would be in the position of running 5 year old company cars (if they were doing that well they wouldn't be running old, low spec cars) and then letting staff buy them for half their trade value. When in a matter of minutes they could have pocketed an extra £20k by passing them on to WBAC.

Someone is spinning someone else a yarn here...

He did extremely well. Cheapest comparable car on autotrader is £8,500. He bought that several thousand below trade price.
The bargains are out there.....bought direct from a company replacing 5 of their fleet......normally they send them all to auction ......I think there's on on eBay for around £6k at the moment
Yes - on ebay uncompleted auction, certainly not at a classified ad or buy it now price.
Heres one on ebay classified at £10,000.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-318-2-0-i-Sport-Plus-FULL-LEATHER-FSH-/121712291451?hash=item1c569e2e7b:g:QDkAAOSwjVVVsmxf
Very surprised any company would let a car go at that price when its worth twice that retail.

All 5 were sold to staff who wanted them
