Hmmm made a newbie error and forgot to include the direct link, which is:

Perhaps a friendly mod could assist?

would be interested in any feedback on this for any humming noise that these gadgets often have? I bought a similar one from asda and could not stand the noise from it so it went after two nights!

does this have AM/FM radio?
#4
Reading the reviews posted for this item on Play.com would seem to suggest that overall this is a quality unit and I have spotted one review which does mention a radio function with 30 presets.

If there is anyone out there who has bought this and can confirm or deny the product quality/radio function etc please shout - I've got my cursor tentatively hovering over the buy button!:p
#5
But I'd go through quidco for 4% (forgot about that aswell!)
#6
Any idea if it charges the Ipod at the same time ?
#7
i got one of these from play.com - yes it has a FM radio and yes it charges the ipod at the same time. It's a good bit of kit for the price and can get pretty loud.

I bought this item from play. Ok there is a very slight hum as in most clock radio's I think it is the transformer but it is very low and unobtrusive. The Radio function is FM only with 20 presets and it does charge the iPhone. The display is a cool looking blue and is dimmable or turn off with remote control. The only negative is when docked you have to select flight mode to stop phone interference on the unit, this pops up automaticaly when you dock so is not a problem. Sound quality is really good much better than a cheap radio alarm. There is a sleep and snooze function and option to use radio or stored music. Aux jack (3.5mm) socket on the back to conect other items. The unit takes two AA batteries for back up incase of power cuts so no more excuses to the boss for being late. Excellent value and looks very "bose" like. Can only reccomend at this price.

does it charge the 3g iphone?

Thanks

Sorry should of looked 1st!
#10
Yep, charged everything. Sound quality is excellent for the price! Think the sound goes up to something like 40. Very impressed. Bought 2 at the Play.com price, definited deal.

what is the use of the remote here?
can we change the songs?
can we connect to external speakers if required?
#13
Thanks for the replies guys - I've already further punished my bruised credit card (as I posted I guess I had too!) :-D

Same price on amazon.co.uk, who prefer to buy it from there: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ottavo-Speaker-Alarm-Clock-White/dp/B001PC5RLE
#16
The amazon price is actually Amazon Marketplace - hence an extra £4.50 postage cost on top of the £15.99 listed price. :)

Heat added! Looks really good for the price!

Newbie question: It's my first time using Quidco, so I logged in, looked for MyMemory, clicked the 'merchant link', and then purchased the product from the site that came up. However, Quidco still says "No transactions currently tracked". Is this normal; will it take a couple of days to appear there, or did I do something wrong?

I know it's a bit OT.. apologies!
#24
Might be the clincher for some people, when using a 3g iphone (and presumably ipods), you can make the alarm play music from your library... even the 3g iphone alarm settings cant do that! (I tihnk).

I've got 5 of these - use them mainly for charging, but occaisionally to play music... we find the music quality plenty good enough, and loud enough. It wont replace a dedicated stereo, but it's great for a kitchen/bedroom.

The display is too bright at the lowest dim setting (spose you could put some coloured plastic in front - like sweet wrappers?... so we have to turn the display off at night.

If you dont put the iphone into airplane mode, you get the odd annoying clicking sound as the phone searches for a connection - but it's rare hit happens where I am (we have a good O2 signal).

Overall, well worth the money.

Wouldn't worry about it, it could take up to a few days to track.

Each company has an approximate tracking speed, tracking reliability and payment speed rating on their quidco page (on the right hand column)

Right, thought the purchase would appear and then take time to track! Thanks for clearing that up :-) Have some rep!

I have one of these.

Sounds quality is quite good, quite loud too.

It does have some annoying traits though.

Firstly, the buttons on the unit are too loose, so with any sound which has a bit of bass/vibrations, the buttons start to tremble and it causes a very annoying and very audible buzz/vibration. I fixed this by sticking a small piece of selotape over the buttons.

Secondly, it has a sleep mode, so you can listen to something for 15 mins before going to bed and then it automatically switches off. However, as soon as it switches off, the backlight turns on, which is VERY bright. Defeats the purpose of the sleep mode!

Apart from that, it's a decent purchase.

i bought one from play in november

it is very poor. build quality is rubbish, sound isnt great and there is a buzzing sound. i'd only reccomend buying one of these if you can't afford to buy a decent speaker dock.

thanks OP, heat n rep... i have been after one of these for a while, need 1 for me iphone!!!

A man in the know .. I like it

Would you know if the alarm can be turned off with the remote?
#37
I got one of these recently from Play. Mine buzzes when the display is on the lower brightness, it's fine if the light is off or on fully. I'm fairly sure the alarm can be turned off with the remote.

great deal, just ordered one
thanks ... heat added

Yep, the alarm can be turned off with the remote....the remote basically does everything

I get the same problem as with others, the display is annoyingly bright even on the low setting....just have to sleep with it off and then press the front middle button everytime i wake up and want to know what time it is :?

I've got one of these at the play price too and can only agree with what other people have been saying.
For the price, its very good, and sound quality is better than what you'd expect.
It does have a lot of annoying things about it though, the brightness of the LCD possibly being the biggest. I get around that by leaving my ipod touch running with the free 'Nightstand' application on its lowest brightness setting, and turning the display of the radio off altogether.
A contender for most annoying feature is that the volume is digital, and resets itself - meaning that if you want to wake up to relatively quiet music you're stuffed. The volume comes on quite loud and rapidly gets a lot louder until you turn it off.

As I said, its good value for the money, but I think I'll be swapping it for a more expensive model before too long. Any other recommendations?
