good price

Good price if you can put lava rocks in it. Otherwise it's just an upside down grill like most others.

Not sure if they should be allowed to call them barbecues if you can't have any charcoal or similar substitute in them.
#7
Looks like it comes with "flavourizer bars" instead

The Spectrum 3 comes with new flavourizer bars (not the traditional lava rock). What are flavouriser bars? Flavouriser bars are used instead of lava rock. They fit above the stainless steel burners and under the grill top. They aid the distribution of heat. They are also designed to channel away excess grease and avoid bad flareups. Fat and juices drip from cooked meat, hits the flavoriser bars and vaporises into smoke and steam which flavours the food on the grill.

It this the one with the domed hood or the flat hood?

You dont need lava rocks or other substitue to get b-b-q flavour. If you want to add flavour, get some of those wood chips. Charcoal or lava rock do not add flavour. You get 'burnt' bits with either gas or charcoal. Good seasoning on your meat, good cooking, good company and good beer should be all you need.

Although good price the 35 day wait for this puts me off, summer will be over by then.

If you're get burnt bits with charcoal then you're not doing it right. I agree with the wood chips though, the hickory are a favourite of mine.

OK then 'caramelised' bits. it happens. I like them bits.

I do not recommend the Outback covers though. I have what looks to be the last charcoal BBQ they sell in the UK and bought the branded cover to go with it. It faded from green to almost white in a matter of a few weeks and over winter, holes appeared in it. It must be 18 months old. Absolutely useless. Bought a 3rd party one now. Fingers crossed.

It is all about mans battle with the flame. Charcoal all the way for me, that is what real men have.

A real man would not have to ask that question ;)

I think Argos have made a cock up here. The flatbed is pictured but described as the hooded and they are selling the flatbed at 60 quid more and have the hooded pictured.

I got the flatbed last year from homebase for £160...

Reading these posts questions my manliness apparently cos this BBQ is great and well worth the cash.

Thanks. Been looking for one of these.
Delivery for me was within 21 days.

I'm packing the lightsaber away for the summer.

I've still got an outback I bought 4 years ago - be warned these are not the best quality and I've found most years I've had to buy replacement parts for it (which is at least good you can buy them).

This year will be the last year for it - and that is only by luck, the insides have completely rusted away.

So - yes cheap, but I'd never buy outback again :(

i got the flat lid also from homebase last year it is great apart fdrom those stupid silver racks, the rest is well made so what the hell were they thinking having some flimsy rack for putting your cooked food on?

the bloody thing keeps falling down, even just a secure metal clip would have done or make the metal rod which goes through the main bbq longer so it doesnt have to balance on 1 mm of metal.

mine is all cleaned and has been fired up a number of times in the last 2 weeks.

oddly my gas was cheaper the other day than it was last year £27.99 for 15kg butane, im sure it was £30 last year.

Oh come on, it's a long lead time (too long) but we're only halfway through April. You'll have plenty summer left.

Within 35 days will mean you get it by the end of May? Surely June+July+August=happy days

I don't like gas BBQs but heat added as its a great deal!

Where do you put the wood chips if you have no charcoal or lava rocks?

I ordered this a few days before this was posted. I phoned Argos as the picture was wrong they said the discription is normally right which would be for the hooded version, plus the "was" price is right for the hooded one i would think. BUT i waited forever for my swing from argos last year, more like double the time they quoted. The guy on the phone said 35 day delivery ment they was waiting on stock..... i'm hoping they deliver this on time (_;)

Mine arrived Saturday, all fine and came with a hood, assembly was ok, apart from one screw with rubbish thread but fortunately wasn't critical

Ordered 3 weeks ago, got a call yesterday (day 20) to say it's delayed and I will be contacted again by May 26. I cancelled the order. Bit of a joke really.
#29
Got an automated message last Thursday saying it was delayed and we wouldn't get it for another month!!
Then got a phone call (from a real person) on Friday saying it would be delivered on Monday (and it was).

Has anybody that bought this found a suitable cover for it?

mines booked in for delivery this wednesday :) I did order about 3 days before this deal was posted .
