It is possible to add XBMC to a OUYA probably a better use than as a games console alone.

This is what you want

Koying, the Developer is also part of the Kodi team but created a fork that contains mods that were not accepted into the official Kodi.

As a tiny silent media box and/or emulator console it's pretty good.

What ever happened to this console? It was supposed to revolutionise the industry...

Buried alongside all of those ET game cartridges

Annoying if you've already bought a game on Android then have to buy the game again to play it on this as it has a separate store. Think you can port the Google play store to it though

This thing is poo

I like it, but use for mame, and xmbc only

Been using the ouya box for about 6 months now upgraded from the rasberry pi and most say I love it runs xbmc a lot better than the pie
Bit of a set back mash up as gone as it was probably the best Application I have used on it
I also use my hd drive to watch all my mkv files though xbmc and plays everything flawlessly
Some of my mkvs are 25gb
Playing it though a onkyo 609 amp using a epson tw9000 projector the sound and picture are quality
Great big of kit for the price a bonus if you like the games

if this was sub £20 id pick it up for xbmc

as for what the whole point of the system was for (kickstarter sales pitch) it failed miserably!

I really like the ouya. I have xbmc on mine add well as Amazon app store (loads of free Games via app of the day), Mame and all the emulators. with dlna and smb I get access to SK the movies through icefilms and every 8bit,16bit and 64bit console game on all platforms.

Oh and it does android games too. If you want your existing games without buying then again just copy the apk and sideload it. It's that easy!

Hot, and look for more recent reviews people are citing issues here dating back to when it launched!

It isn't silent, far from it in fact.

As a reasonably powerful XBMC player its very good, supports a portable hard drive without any problems and even some of the more complex skins respond just fine. The problems arise outside of XBMC tho, Ouya seem hell bent on burying this console by making it as difficult for users and advanced users as possible. Had they opened up the bootloader then this box could have stood a chance with help from the ROM community but instead they chose to lock the system down despite saying that wouldn't happen during its kickstarter campaign and its this lack of freedom even when rooted that lets it down.
