If it wasn't for hotels, manufacturers of tiny bottles of shampoo and their myriad Borrower workers would go out of business. Keep it clean with today's Groupon: for £86.50 instead of £216.60, enjoy a one night getaway, dinner and breakfast for two at The Waterloo Hotel & Bistro .

Stomping ground of Goldie Lookin' Chain and birthplace of the late David 'Bomber' Pearce, Newport is also home to a nineteenth century hotel called The Waterloo. Built in 1876, this Grade II Listed building was restored in 2007, and now offers an alluring combination of Victorian period features with subtle flavours of Hollywood's Wild West. Recommended on Trip Advisor, The Waterloo is also host to an award-winning restaurant and bar.

Holiday-making Groupon holders are invited to forget about the housework and retreat to The Waterloo for an evening of relaxation and indulgence. Whether having a drink by the bar or exploring the local sights, a break at The Waterloo offers guests a number of possibilities. Come the rumble of hunger, venture to the restaurant for a three course meal of choice from the A La Carte menu. Options include smoked duck breast on a crispy stir fry with ginger and hoisin reduction (worth £6.50) veal in white wine, cream and mushroom sauce with Savoy greens (£11.75), finishing off with a dark chocolate fondant and black cherry ice-cream (£5.85) for dessert. When darkness falls and it is time to retire for the evening, pass the night in comfort in one of the hotel's luxury bedrooms. In the morning, awake at leisure and pop down to the restaurant for breakfast.

Very local hotel for me. I've been told that its a nice place to stay and eat, but you wont be blown away by the location. Right on a very main road and right opposite the docks main access. Right opposite the historic Transporter bridge too, if you like a bit of engineering.
