Great news about the texts i had to use some credit this month as went over the free allowance.

How intrusive are the ads? I'm wondering if this makes more sense than sticking with Samba but can't seem to find a video of how the adverts actually work.

Was just about to post this deal, only to see I had been nipped to it by 26 minutes :) Voted hot.

It was only a matter of time before they did this - Ovivo's phone SIMs already offered 500MB along with their minutes and texts, so obviously the dedicated data SIM had to be increased to more than 500MB.

Works on Vodafone network. Internet is very slow. But normal calls and texts are fine. Great for a back up sim or to pop in your ipad for emergency mobile data.

Might move to ovivo in few months as they seem great.

Can someone explain this to me?
It looks like I pay £15 upfront for a sim and then have 750 mb of data each month free, with a charge only if I go over this.
Can I put this in my ipad which I very occasionally need a sim for, because at home and work I always use the wifi?
Sounds almost too good to be true.

That's pretty much it - "Outside your free allowance, you will be charged at 16p per MB."

Along with some fairly unobtrusive ads.

I was looking for a backup network for when I go to my parents place in Wales. I'm on O2 and get zero signal currently. Ovivo use Vodafone, at least Vodafone are honest with their coverage checker, unlike O2 and 3. O2 say the signal is perfect here and well it ain't and I doubt 3 would be either, although I haven't tested it.

Been on it a month and yet to see an ad.

Yes it's true, don't question it, just go with the flow and sign up and then enjoy free data month after month. http://ovivomobile.com/offer/ovivo-for-data/

Best £15-00 ive ever spent, cannot fault them.

Does anyone have any experience with Ovivo and inserting it into Car sim profiles. i.e using it for internet in a car nav situation.

Or what if you used this in a dongle and then all u did was donwload from FTP sites - i.e. no browser? if you cant see their ads would it work?
#17
It looks really good, but I wish I could forego surplus calls/texts for more data. I don't want to pay for more mins/texts >_<

Does anyone know if they bar calls/texts on the data ones, or can you still use it if you top up?

EDIT: Never mind they block SIP so it's useless to me.

Pity it's Vodafone!!! In this area (Oxfordshire) Vodafone are pretty much (by far!!!) the worst for 3G - phones drop to 2G even in parts of Oxford City Centre and rural areas have no 3G signal at all! (even if their 2G is good)

You ARE forgoing calls /texts for more data.
With calls and texts, you get 500MB data, for the sim without them you get 750MB
Ovivo mobile sim card is the best £15 I have ever spent too.

Also interested in how it works with applications. For example could i set it up to send a picture via an app or email every hour via 3G without having to click this advert again?

ok if people want to read this it should answer some questions.

For those wondering how you go about adverts with applications....

I use whatsapp, viber, maps, all sorts of apps that use the internet. And the lowdown is that....

They all just work. you only see an advert when you use your browser for the first time in a while (day / hours) and click continue to move onto the page you wanna navigate to. So for apps and stuff- you are not affected and it was as if you are still on the price plan you used to pay for previously!

Signal can be hit and miss however.. when im at work in hatfield in a building the 3g H+ signals are few and far between. but i manage.

For free, im willing to manage.

Yes.

I believe they only insert adverts into regular (port 80) http traffic.

I have the data sim in my MIFI, and I'm very impressed with Ovivo.
The adverts aren't a problem and there aren't many of them.

Is there an easy way to check your data useage as you go?
#28

From experience when you use your mobile phone for browsing it doesnt use as much data as if you use your laptop so if you used a sim card for a phone on your laptop it would use the data much quicker. Better sticking to a dongle that is specifically for laptop. Might be wrong tho.

This deal - no.
But see THIS sim from Ovivo, also posted today
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/ovivo-mobile-increased-50-texts-150-minutes-250-texts-500-mb-internet-free-calls-1590041

The 150 min, 250 texts 500 MB internet sim works on phones without internet!
(You only see ads while browsing the internet, so if you have a non-smart phone, then you never browse the internet and never see any adverts!)
I have a cheap non-internet phone and have been using Ovivio for over a month. 150 min, 250 texts with NO CATCH (apart from initial £15 sim card) is amazing.

can you cap data/calls etc if you want it for kids ?
#33
Do they come as a micro sim? For an ipad 2?

After you use up all the monthly data , it then uses the credit and then after that it is pay as you go (not contract where you get billed at the end of the month). So if after the monthly calls and data is used you do not pay, it will not go.

You can get standard, micro and nano sims!
So yes, you can get it in micro!

Okay, I have succumbed and ordered the phone one, will use it in my spare s2. Surprised that the company is still going, but its been a while now, so good as a spare I reckon. Potentially a very very hot deal.

Couple of q's...

1- can I use the phone one in my ipad ? Or would it have to be a tablet / data only sim for that ?

2.- do you know if you are going over your monthly data limits, and if so does it charge you for this or just stop working ?

Proof of that Rob?

I can post Vodafone speeds and Ovivo speeds, they are the same, so what you're saying is not true, unless the vodafone network is slow in your area, in which case it's got nothing to do with Ovivo has it?
