OVIVO Mobile free monthly allowance now up to 150mins/200txts/400MB data for one off payment of £15.00

JonTJonT

OVIVO Mobile are a great little firm offering free SIM only contracts in return for a couple of seconds of adverts when you connect to the internet over GPRS. They run over the Vodafone network and they have just increased their monthly free package to 150mins, 200 texts and 400MB data so it is certainly a viable package for a low end user. All you have to do is buy the SIM card for £15 and the rest is free! If you use more than your monthly allowance then you have £15 of call credit with your SIM (which you can top up - cals are 8p/min, texts are 5p each)>

They have some higher use packages with associated monthly costs as well but the real value is in their free package. The adverts really aren't a problem.

Here's the blurb...

There are not any adverts at the moment, but they are due to return. Previously they were not intrusive. Voicemail comes out of your free allowance, when that runs out, you would pay for it, charged at 8p http://ovivomobile.com/pricing/

    Many thanks for your help

yes - you can set it up as a data sim for tablet / USB dongle

you get 500MB per month for free

if you want more it's £5/month for 1GB allowance

so very good for occasional use (backup internet or traveling) - good for light use (up to 1GB per month) so no big download / torrents / streaming vids etc

for heavier use - not so good ....... 16p/MB over allowance

OK folks - seriously thinking of leaving Orange and going to Ovivio

currently pay £12.50 per month for 200 mins U/L texts and 1.1Gb dat

but if I check my usage for the last 12 moths never really gone over the new Ovivo limits except for 3 months with data and then max 600 MB

so some questions to Ovivo smartphone users

can you monitor data useage online via your account - I know of giffgaff you cannot

how strict are Ovivo with the data limit?

does every MB count - I know some providers do not count some email / browsing and only count real downloads - not sure what Orange do

Do you get any unsolicited phone calls? I can cope with a few SMS's and some web advertising, but would get pee'd off with numerous phone calls.

    thanks for amy info

yes there is a free text number you can texted to keep a eye on your allowance, what I do is do all my updates and downloads apps ect all on wifi at home. if your on android ics or above theres a data monitor built into the phone or you can download apps to monitor your data use. Ive never had any phone calls what so ever in last 11 months while ive been on it, I use mine for just browsing and emails and stuff like that and never use more than 200mb a month, I also use whatapp for all my texts and pic messenging as that uses internet instead of your text allowance.

One other thing which is worth mentioning about OVIVO - they have customer services like no other. Not sure long it will last as they grow but right now it is just a joy to be able to speak to bright, well trained people who genuinely seem like they want to help.

I've known about these plans for a few months. Now they are out I can honestly say they are the best thing that's happened to Ovivo and when I first saw the details I was very excited.

Ovivo go from strength to strength and it's fantastic!

And no. I don't work for them.

How long exactly does 400MB last of Internet usage?

IS THIS 400MB OR 500MB? Confused.

If I don't download, no YouTube, and only using mainly for Whatsapp, emails and web browsing how much data on average would I be using? Is 400MB more than enough? or.... I'm going to be using this daily for a few hours a day on the Internet. Thanks

If you go for the data sim, it is 500mb, but no calls or texts. If you get the phone sim, it is 400mb, plus the 150 minutes and 200 texts. If you don't use Youtube, don't download, etc, then for light usage, the 400mb should be enough. However, to make your data last longer, you should use wifi where you can; whether at home, work, or in wireless hotspots, such as those found in pubs, coffee shops, etc.
