I would avoid Maplins for anything electrical. Very bad customer service and rediculous returns procedure. Reminded me of the 1950's.

I bought an external Hard Drive in one of their "store opening offers" (later discovered it online as their normal price). Drive wouldnt work,, so I happily went in to the branch with receipt to ask for a refund. I was expecting normal decent shop service and a refund would be a diddle, but no... First the scruffy looking salesman went to consult his boss in front of me. The boss shook his head and mummbled something about me, and claimed that there couldnt be a fault and it was "imppossible that it was corrupted". I insisted that I wanted a refund so they came up with the new ploy. either you accept a replacement, or we will send it off to head office where a technician will check it, this will be within 10 working days and then a letter will be sent to you with our findings, only then if it is found faulty will we refund you.....

After 10 days I received a letter confirming the fault and a refund.

Never again! In the age of Argos, Tesco, John Lewis and Amazon etc. I would be bonkers buying from such petty timewasters.
