If you claim DLA you can get one of these free from British Gas if you are a customer.
during the summer i was on a search engine i sent away for this and received it i use it everyday its very helpful it helps me to realise how much electricity i have been using so i now cut down on a lot of it ie pulling out plugs never ever leaving anything on standby
It might be a good price but certainly at my local library you can borrow one for free - even better!
I complained about my electricity usage and British Gas sent one out to me for free. I also phoned on behalf of my mum so she could cut down on her usage. Free is cheaper :whistling:
its a good price for anyone who cant get it for free

I agree - was going to get one from the OWL site at £29.25 but will look to get it here
Heat added
Didn't Wilkinsons have these in for a fiver a while back?
They had their own brand but when I went in they were full price.
Anyone can get one for free from british gas as long as they have someone over 70 living with them.

I don't think british gas will come round to check.
errrr.......I don't have anyone living with me over 70, my mother isn't over 70. Along with the monitor, I also got the pc plug, which turns everything off that is plugged into it once the tower is turned off, the energy saver power bar abd the water saver that attaches to the shower. I was never asked about my income nor my age. :?

What I meant was that if you don't qualify for any of the benefits needed to get it for free from british gas, you can still get it free if someone over 70 lives with you.

Or, more simply, if you tick the box on the British Gas website that says someone over 70 lives with you, they'll send it to you. For free.

Even simpler? You can lie on the online form and get it for free.

Not that I'd recommend that, lying to get something for free from British Gas would be wrong. Just think of the poor shareholder's dividends. Won't someone think of the shareholders?

You can also get the standby saver for free. But that would be wrong too.
it would be wrong, but i did exactly that before xmas. got mine plugged in nd use it every day.
im not even with british gas!!
Sorry maybe this timehttp://www.hotukdeals.com/item/43932...orth-5?page=11

Yep, spotted this over Christmas and as wife is disabled and on DLA applied for 1, still waiting though. Also applied for one for my aging parents, both legit over 70 and 1 very decrepid as a result. Neither of us British Gas Customers as its open to all if you can tick one of the eligability boxes.
The British Gas is not the same as the Owl one and possibly not as good as the highly rated Owl. This is a great price for Owl - hot. Still, if you can a freebie then I'd probably go for that myself.
The British Gas free option also comes with an infra-red controlled standby saver plug, which can make real savings by turning off the TV and connected equipment at the same time.

Also it could be used by elderly people as a way of remote controlling things like heaters or lights, I know that my grandmother had trouble bending to turn on appliances, this could help people with similar problems.
