Arcade junkies and kids from the 80s will love this novelty alarm clock. Bedside cabinets need one of these…. your very own Pac-Man Alarm Clock. Pac-Man sits comfortably on a stand and displays the time in his infamous open mouth. This funky alarm clock has a snooze feature and a handy back light so if you wake in the middle of the night and want to know the time, just push the button. It comes with authentic Pac-Man sounds too and if you want you can turn off the alarm feature and simply use it as a standard clock. 2 x AA Batteries.

Maplin have DC power Plug (~2.1mm - whatever you need) sockets for £1.89 (or look elsewhere), and drilling a wee hole, and soldering isn't beyond most people.
It will void your warranty, but this is cheap and unattractive to start with, and it is a potentially fun weekend project.

If the two AA batteries are in series then it will be 2.4 volts, If they are in Paralell 1.2 volts.

I encourage anyone who can't solder, or doesn't know how to figure stuff like this out to pick up a book about it, or go to your nearest electronics club/hackerspace. It is fun, and it means things can work the way you want them to.

Edit: If you burn down your house, don't blame me!

Of course not so useful if the batteries run out in the middle of the night and you oversleep and miss something important! The fact that it is so naff it's cool more than makes up for this though. Hot!
