ive got some that i had for over 6 years and still running fine. Old phillips ones the size of torpedos....only changed them due to their size else they were running well....

You must have some faulty wiring in your house if they are only lasting 1-2 years....even cheap one i have are still going after 2-3 years...

keep the receipt.. and write the date on them when you install them... I just replaced a 40w equiv in our bathroom (changed it to a 25w equiv). It was still working fine... the install date on it was May 2001. I think nearly 9 years out of a bulb rated for 6 is pretty good, although I've had some Philips 10 year bulbs go after 10 weeks. If you have the receipt (in fact I didn't) they'll get changed no questions asked.

Ive just got round to using a pack of 2 Tesco 60w bulbs from 2008. They both failed within less than 5 hours. I suspect that the bulbs were not properly sealed or that there was air in the bulb when it was manufactured and the filament has oxidized when it was switched on.
