Been watching these recon machines at Currys and PCWorld and just seen this price drop...presumably because there is no Vista upgrade option anymore.

Couldnt get it to link direct but enter code 589886 in their search box (maybe an OP can do a direct link please?)

Specs are:

# Intel Pentium D820 Processor
# 2.8GHz, 800MHz FSB, 2MB Cache
# Microsoft Windows XP Media Center
# 1GB DDR RAM
# 200GB Hard Disk Drive
# Multi-Format Dual Layer DVD RW Drive
# 512MB nVidia GeForce 7300SE Graphics
# 8-In-1 Media Card Reader
# 6 USB Connections
# 4 PCI Slots

Whilst not the best spec machine around, and there are those that seem to loath Packard Bell, this is an excellent price for this level of spec. Not the best for gaming and has no TV tuner but heh its £209 delivered and could take Vista with its current spec if you cant live without it. Couldnt find anything like this at Dell.

The link to Packard Bell's description is:

http://www.packardbell.co.uk/products/at-home/desktops/imedia/imedia-2470/productsheet-PB34338701-46.html

Use PRFREEDEL to get this price and dont forget 3% Quidco.

Comes with full 12 month guarantee.

Removed the NHS discount code though, as it is only for NHS employees.

Makes it 5% more expensive.

Not a bad spec for the price, but a mediacenter pc without a tv card? What's the point?

Fair point but if it just said Windows XP and not Window XP media centre would it still not be a bad deal? There are features within Media Centre which are usable without a TV Card plus not everyone wants their PC to be a TV/VCR.

GFX is 64 mb dedicated rest borrowed off system Richirea.

if this is like the one I bought using Cube MSI motherboard it'll be PCI-E GFX (well it must be with that card lol)

Will need new PSU to change though.

If there are any other NHS employees who would like the 5% code that was removed from my post then please PM me for it.

Thanks for this kev..as you say a decent spec for the price..just add a £100 monitor and you have a bargain PC.

This has now gone up to £249.99 before discount! Maybe it was a price error.

Anyway got my order in in time before the increase. Arrived yesterday with a bonus. It shipped with a 400GB hard drive instead of the advertised 200GB!
