Nice find mate! OK its refurb'd but the package has a graphics card and although it an intel, its a reasonable one, i.e. not a celery.

RAM sounds fine, as does the 360Gb drive.

Great entry level box, if not better!

Oh yeah, I forgot, nice looking case too!

Hmm... looks tempting...

What are PC World usually like with regards to warrenty? If I got one of these and opened it up to put an extra hard drive in, and then another component failed, would they kick up a fuss?

I just check the Dell outlet prices. I couldn't find similar spec for this price

Thanks dommyboy2, heat added.

Does this come with an OS install/recovery disk?

Guys,
Speaking from bitter experience, I would avoid this like the plague. If nothing goes wrong then great but as soon as there is a problem, PC world are the worst company I have ever deal with.
I found them hugely unco-operative nad caused me no end of stress.
I would go with Dell!

Anyone a tech head? Is this worth the money, looks a good price to me...thanks

With patience you’ll very likely get a better spec at a lower price.

True, but that's mainly because PC components reduce in value by the week in general. So what's cheap today will be expensive in a month or two's time.

No I mean if you check the Outlet Store 3 times a day for the next 3 to 5 days you’ll very likely find a much better deal. As long as you’re clear what you’re after it takes about 1 minute per visit.

Cheaper at Currys as you can use the 5% code

PC only has single channel memory

Looks fairly good price to me,

My dell outlet, similar spec, onboard graphics 3gig, 2*320 disks, media card reader was £195 in the last money off free delivery session, but that took a bit of finding most only had one disk.

Should be this one, if looking for more details.

so add card reader and firewire to the list of features.

I had a PB imedia which has worked well for the last 6years, just blew the power supply a couple of weeks ago.

I bet the Dell is far more upgradable than the PB one, im no expert but the motherboard seem very low spec, single channel memory only 2 sata sockets

Thing is a lot of people buying a basic PC hardly ever upgrade.

It's a buy and forget purchase.

This (as would anything around this spec ) will do the job for years
Internet,
office apps
Photo
video
A lot of games(ok not the top end)

Job done.

You are right Agharta. This isn't bad deal, but the Dell one's are better

Packard Hell...
Anyway, helped my fiance buy a Packard Bell refurb about a year ago from PC World. Fast delivery but it was a nightmare setting up. Seemed to have no drivers set up and the harddrive was partitioned into 3. Oddly it would crash everytime we tried to click start menu. It was an XP model and we just used an old XP disk to reinstall windows and start it from scratch with all the drivers etc. Has been working fine since, but I'd argue it's best to reinstall windows when it arrives and set it up your way!
