can people explain why they are voting this cold please as id like to know.
i think its a fab deal. excellent price!
#4
i voted hot as it does seems a good price
#5
It is a good net book. Maybe cold though because I know it has been available for £199 brand new
#6
The tech specs say 'up to 6hrs battery life' so I presume this is a six cell battery, unless they've copied the generic product description.

6 cell at this price would be great.
Heat.

Is this wireless N or G?

Good spot. This looks like a good deal: Atom N280, 6 hour battery life etc. From the Packard Bell website, it looks as if it's a proper version of Photoshop Elements too. If so, that's saved me a few quid as I was thinking of buying Elements anyway. Thanks!

Seems like a nice netbook...been after one! Anyone know how this compares to some of the other popular brands, i.e. Samsung N130?
#10
Have this company actually got anything to do with DSG?, or are they just using their graphics?

Yep...part of the DSG (Currys and Dixons).

I agree, a good netbook. Plus the model on sale at £199 has the lower spec N270 Atom CPU. Makes this an even better deal with the (slightly) faster N280.

Also, last night's gadget show tested this and said it was "cracking value at £249.99". So for £85 less and still with full warranty, although a refurb, can't be bad.

does this have a dvd reader some reports say it does others dont mention in. It states no floppy drive but there again a dvd reader is not what i'd call a floppy drive.
#14
No optical drive in the 10" netbooks. Not big enough to house one in.

Just ordered one for the missus for Xmas.

Hot :D

Anyone know what condition these generally arrive in. I am looking to buy for someone's birthday and re-package into a nice bag etc but if it's full of scratches etc I shall not bother?

Not the same model, the one on the gadget show was the Dot S2. Which has the newer N450 processer.

Is N Wifi good then? Sorry...I have absolutely no idea what is better! I only want it for simple word processing and browsing whilst I'm away.

Can anyone advise on whether this or the non refurbished MSI Wind U100 at argos for the same price is the better option. I know the processer here is better and is Windows 7 (MSI Wind is XP).

I've had this response regarding whether this was a 6 cell battery:

Hi there,
As a seller you'll appreciate we may not have the technical expertise to answer all questions, and we?re unable to provide specific technical advice.

The product's box does state that the WLAN is 802.11 b/g and there is NO WWLAN.

The battery has a 6-Cell battery.

Kind Regards

- techfurb

I hope this helps someone, but I've just ordered it based on the 6 cell battery.

I brought one of these 6 months ago an run office 2007 on its and its brilliant, Wireless is fine and it is just so light. Battery life is down to about 3 hrs as you would expect after constant use. It gets more use than my high spec laptop does when away from the office. Buy one at this price I might get one for my daughters...

I want to use it without having to take the charger with me, so a 6 cell battery should allow 6 hours worth of use, which is ample for me. It's got everything I want from a netbook so I'm happy with it. However, this will be pretty much dependant on your settings, i.e. brightness etc.

Cheers. I take it the wifi is standard stuff, shouldnt be any unpleasent connection issues. Ive been looking at the MSI WInd at Argos and am leaning toward this one instead.

Same as me! I did a quick check, and as far as I know, the specs on this machince is very good considering the price. I'm just hoping that it comes in a reasonably nice condition! I was deliberating on getting the Samsung N130, but this seems a lot better with Windows 7 and a good sized hard drive of 250GB. Based on the response I had from the seller, it's in a box and if the posted descrption is the same as what's on the box, I will be happy!

If you want battery life, wouldnt this Samsung N110 also from techfurb be better? It claims 9 hrs...

N is the quickest speed you can get at the moment

does this have a built in webcam?

all 101 sold thanks to this thread no doubt.

Windows 7 isn't a plus point on netbooks - remember its the stripped down starter edition.
Netbooks run faster and have a slightly better battery life running windows xp.
#35
Some netbooks stating wireless N but actually running b/g as i have a toshiba nb250 stating N but when i look at network setting it states 60Mbps on xp.
My computer is running at 130Mbps on my N 150Mbps router

I've had payment refunded anyone else had this problem?

Mine came via DHL next day and was properly packaged. It also came in the proper PB box with most of the things inside wrapped up in bubble wrap (a few cables didn't but I can live with that).
Mine also came with a certificate to show that everything has been wiped professionally (due to it being pre-owned). No scratches or marks anywhere on the netbook. Haven't powered it up yet (its an Xmas present for the missus so as soon as it landed it got hidden in a draw, should find out today what its like performance wise) :)
