Hi
Thanks for posting. And welcome to HUKD.
It is good practice to also add
*the merchant and price to the title
*name of the product to the title
*the price
*an image
*an item descrpition
It helps people who are just browsing through. And in my experience your post will get a few more “hot” votes.
Emmajk42 / Juliet_Bravo wrote a couple of very comprehensive and excellent guides for newcomers to HUKD here: - http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/145906/newcomers-advice-on-hotukdeals-gene/

This is a link, made by rayman, which explains how to add images in great detail. It’s worth taking a look at if you are going to post more deals in future : - http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/339941/how-to-post-and-host-images-for-thr/
They are well worth taking a look at.
Again, thanks for posting, and welcome to HUKD.

I have one and it's quite good - running Windows 7 Home Premium with no problem. Vista worked fine on it as well. Mine only had a 3 cell battery and that's it's weak point with little more than 2 hours. This one has a 6 cell battery so should be better. For a netbook/ultra mobile crossover this is a very good price. I don't think calling it a "trendy netbook/digital diary" does it any justice at all.
#3
hi got this for my gf great laptop more powerful than my samsung n140 :(
#4
Bah typing on a medion akoya e1311 here, I take it this netbook is more powerful?
#6
I was just browsing this. The only thing that put me off was battery life. I'm looking for 8 hours. Otherwise the price is perfect, but no luck finding 8 hour battery life for less than £350
#7
I had it for a week but than returned it. The CPU doesn't have multithreading and gpu didn't support x264 so it couldn't handle most of HD films at all. Battery life is mediocre and it takes insane ammount of time to charge the battery. It also runs hot for a netbook. Apart from that I was happy withe the built quality and the looks. Still if you like entertainment on th go I wouldn't recomand this.
#8
The reviews on Amazon don't seem much good?
#9
I an guessing the reviews on amazon were based on the original asking price. For £220 it seems like a good bargain.

cpu is not even at good as a n270 atom 1.6ghz which the n140 has or a 1.2ghz celeron single core. so if you upgrade your n140 to 2gb it should be faster than this
#11
Is this a better laptop than an earlier posted one from Amazon?? I'm confused.........

Hot from me, seems like good value at that price.

Was really excited when I saw the title, thinking it was going to be a cheapo version of the acer ferrari one.

Ah well, still not a bad price, but I'm sure the aldi one with same spec was under £200 on here not long ago.
#15
Looks pretty well specced?

Do you have to pay to upgrade from Vista to Win7?

The E1311 would be more powerful (if I remember the CPU comparisons correctly) but this one has more memory and a larger hard disk in place already than the E1311 did, via the deal I had previously posted.

From reading the reviews out there the graphics card (along with the 2GB of RAM installed as standard) help provide the necessary speed boost that's needed - right now this is one of the most cheapest deals I can see plus it beats the Acer Aspire One 751 netbook hands down (due to the CPU alone).

Depends on what your really looking for at the end of the day - both of them have pros and cons, so it's all down to your individual needs.

Hot from me, seems like good value at that price.

+1 - I know that Packard Bell was bought over by Acer, so the build quality should hopefully be a lot better now plus they're website has a lot more information on this model as well.

The Aldi deal was only for a couple of stores within the UK - it wasn't unfortunately a nationwide deal and the one where you could purchase one from Medion UK direct has expired now.

Bear in mind though for the Medion deals you would only get 1GB of RAM, a 160GB Hard Disk and Windows XP Home Edition for the OS.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

Iguess you want a laptop then? a Netbook is easy to find for under £350 with over 8 hours battery life, look at the Samsungs especially the N210 and N220.

L110 AMD chip in this laptop will be faster than any Atom available from Intel. It is also 64bit, when N2xx atoms are not. Graphics would also be better than integrated ones from Intel.
The only no-no is Vista. You would have to spend more money for Win7 or roll it back to XP. Either way you are paying for worthless Vista license.

Yes - it cost me £19.95 or thereabouts.

As long as you install the latest service pack and hot-fixes along with making a few software changes then Vista will run alright - I'll see if I can dig out the guides but there were several of them out there regarding how to improve the performance of Vista.

Sorry to be ignorant. Was that the windows anytime upgrade price from Vista to ??????
#23
I would definately buy one of these over the more common 10.1 inch netbooks. Overtime the lack of graphics capabilities for even processing flash starts to become an annoyance and hinderance. Am tempted to wait till the price on these drops even more and sell my medion akoya e1210 for one of these. Heat added!

Is Vista really that bad still after the updates etc?

In an 11.6" form-factor ?
There's plenty - take a look at the £265 EEE 1101HA for example http://www.misco.co.uk/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=378563

Erm, the clock-speed of a processor doesn't indicate it's performance !
The 1.2GHz Athlon L110 in this machine performs about the same as a 1.6GHz Atom.

Of course not - it's £220
If you want something with HD video support, then you'll need to spend an extra £100 on either an ION-based system, or something with a Broadcom CrystalHD inside.

Yep.
If you'd bought before January this year, an upgrade to Win 7 was simply a post&packing charge - but that offer has long since expired. You'll need to get yourself a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade at around £80.
ses6jwg
Is Vista really that bad still after the updates etc?

Nope - a fully-updated Windows Vista is just fine.
CTPAHHIK

Erm, it's about the same as a basic Atom 230...

Better at what ? Neither will play games or cope with HD Video.
CTPAHHIK

Don't be ridiculous - a fully-updated Vista installation is very similar to Windows 7.

Erm, this machine shares the lack of graphics capabilites - the integrated ATI video can't perform hardware-acceleration or play modern games...

no this cpu is slower than the 1.6 atom and even then the atom is slow so this must be snails pace

Does this come with the built in webcam and mic? Can see the cam in the pic but doesnt say it anywhere in the specs, just wanna be sure

According to the model series over at the Packard Bell UK website it does indeed but it doesn't list the type of webcam other than VGA.

Very hot!!! 220 pounds it's really good price for that netbook. I just bought it one of these, I gonna sell my compaq mini for around 150pounds and for extra 70 pounds I gonna have a lot better brand new netbook :) Thanks for post this great offer!

+1 - I'll be ordering one tomorrow to replace my Medion Akoya E1210, as the extra screen size will help me out a lot plus it appears to be a fairly decent deal based upon the reviews out there (there are several videos on YouTube for it as well, which are quite handy for reference purposes).

The other handy thing is it appears to be a lot easier to access the memory, hard disk and wireless card via dedicated access panels on the bottom of the netbook - it will make it a lot easier for non-technical people to do this themselves when you compare it against some of the other netbooks out there on the market.

BTW it might be able to run as a Hacintosh as well by the look of it!

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

im not stupid! i do know that for example an old single core 3.2ghz pentium 4 is not as good as a 2.6 ghz intel i7!

and no the athlon is not as good as the atom, the atom is better by a tiny amount.

not true, the atoms are faster.

CTPAHHIK
Graphics would also be better than integrated ones from Intel.

not true also, the graphics on this are also integrated and yes they may be better than a very outdated gma 500/900/950 and x1300, they are on the same level as a x4500 non hd. the x4500hd is a little bit better and will play hd video and the new gma hd which is built into the new core i3 cpu's will kick the crap out of the intel graphics on this. so please dont miss inform other people!

this laptop is great for the price though!

Hi Scotty Boy.You have miss quoted me. I said multithreading not multicores! Atom processors do multithread and CAN handle HD material using right codec. Don't be ignorant and talk about stuff you have no idea about.

I think you have the wrong member mate (I haven't stated anything about multi-threading or cores on this deal thread plus I haven't used one or owned one before now) and thanks for the condescending comments, they are greatly appreciated (they really help fellow members).

Definitely - unfortunately I had missed out on the Medion Akoya E1311 Netbook deal (that I had originally found from Medion UK direct) due to funds not coming through in time. This one is a decent enough alternative especially with the presence of the extra RAM, larger hard disk and also Vista, which I can still upgrade to Windows 7 (if the netbook comes through in time).

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

thanks to op
have gone for one of these the extra screen size and resolution over my samsung nc10 is so worth it
after looking at reviews i think 4 hour battery life is about the norm for the 6 cell so not too bad
anybody who has one comment on the speaker quality?
