The graphics are not dedicated and the CPU isn’t great. On top of that Tesco are notorious for having errors in their PC listings so some or all of your other ideal features may be missing also.

I'd say this is the best price/performance/features of any Tesco laptop that has been posted in the last week (since the 20% off deal started)...also comes with full version Adobe Photoshop Elements 8

Comparable performance to the Dell 1545, but this has wireless N, gigabit ethernet and hdmi out

Anyway thanks OP, I've bagged onem review here

I can't find this particular one with those specs on the PB website:

http://www.packardbell.co.uk/pb/en/GB/content/models/easynotetm

I have an older LM model of the Easynote and I love it to bits, does anything I ask of it, great buy!

Great deal. CPU is around T6400 compared to Intel and graphics are as good as Intel 5-series.
Not sure about build quality as I never had one, but specs are impressive for this price.

I see there is another laptop at Tesco direct at the same price but with 4gb memory rather than 3gb - is there a boffin out there who could tell me which is the better buy? I see the version of photoshop is v7 rather than v8 but that doesn't concern me too much.
#9
there is an old model in black on the site which is still a great price. this one is a newer model and i think faster processor
#10
Good buy, but the Compaq at £240 was a better buy imho
#11
£ for £, this provides comparable spec to the dell but is a packard bell
+ webcam and n wireless

The cpu on this one is approx 20% faster
Less 1 gig of ram (cheap to add more)
500g hd vs 160 gb for the tosh
Graphics will probably be better on this one, as will probably the wired and wireless networking
This one also has hdmi out, 1.3 mp webcam

this is pretty much the best price/performance of any laptop at this price range

it's easy to install, unscrew a plastic cover off the base of the laptop and slot in the ram
make sure that it's the same type/speed and that there is capacity to add another stick (sometimes new laptops come with both banks populated and you have to sacrifice one or both to add more ram)
