In defence of Packard Bell, my parents bought one from Dixons, in 1999, £1200, ouch!

Pentium III 450Mhz 6 gig hard drive 64 meg of RAM. It may be old, but it's still working, apart from the fans now being a little noisy

That must be such a joy to use :whistling:

I have a wind-up gramophone dated pre-war, works great - but it doesn't say we should all rush out and get one.
I dare say the Sinclair Spectrum sitting in my mother's Loft will be working if I went to get it!

I have never had any PC yet that has been thrown out because it was totally bust, just because it was obsolete. None have been THAT obsolete though, and I was never ripped off that much for one of them in the first place either!

Not just good deals, but my education continues to be developed and improved on a daily basis thanks to this site! ;-)

I tend to find high street shops over charge for ***** specced PCs/Laptops. My thinking is that Joe public has no idea on what is good or bad so the high street shops get away with it.

Dead right.

A few of us on here try to get that message across, but even when the obvious is poking our eyes out, there are those who just do not see it, and it constantly keeps the retailers "value" in these things sky high :-(
