Thanks for this Mike :) Missed it yesterday until pointed out by kevinyork! Great spec for the overall price after cashbacks and discounts ;-)
[admin]#2
With the 10% code it should bring it to around £315 then?
[mod] 1 Like #3
Yep. Even cheaper after Quidco cashback too.

This spec from Dell atm would be £450-£499 New so its a billy bargain.
#4
Yes cheers for this Mike. Had been on the lookout on behalf of a friend for a cheap laptop and this is spot on....best spec Ive seen for the price. Hope you dont mind me mentioning it in the thread for the other Packard Bell. Dont know why this thread got overlooked yesterday...probably because it didnt have Dell in the title! At least this has a year warranty and doesnt need to be downgraded to 90 days like Dell offers do to get anywhere near a reasonable price.

Thanks again.

Kev
The Dell 90 day collect and return option doesn't affect your full year's guarantee, it just means you would have to pay for collections and returns :)
[mod]#6
Dont mind at all Kev, and as Ray says the warranty is still intact with the cheaper Dells its just the shipping you would need to pay to get it fixed.

Next time I will list it as a Packard Dell and see what reaction that has ;-)

hi. thank you. thats what threw me. when i visited the site, after reading it was out of stock, the home delivery option was highlighted. therefore in stock?
[admin]#12
Do you enter your postcode in before getting to that page? If so it might be available in some areas and not others. If there is a check mark in the home delivery graphic then it would be available!
[mod]#13
If they run a live stock check system its possible someone basketed the last one which meant it was OOS when I expired it and later changed their mind and cleared the basket meaning it would be back in stock again.
#14
Now back in stock Mike :)

Grab now if you need one - £314.99 after PRICE10 discount !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, I'm thinking of getting this, does anyone know what software it comes with.

I found a list of software at the official site:

http://www.packardbell.co.uk/products/on-the-go/notebooks/easynote-r/easynote-r1938/productsheet-PB42D00401-48.html

But no mention from curry's, has anyone received this package yet, thanks in advance.:)

hi all, been looking for a laptop for my daugher, she wants one just the net etc not games.this looks ideal but as its going to be for xmas i am gonna lose a month of the warranty.worth going for or wait.....deal or no deal?:)
[admin]#21
You might be able to get slightly cheaper if you don't care about specs at all, however for pure bargain value this is a very good deal.
#22
Spoke to my friend who I ordered this for. They said the laptop and all parts in the box look brand new and untouched. The only way you could tell it wasnt new was a sticker on the bottom of the laptop that says it is reconditioned and may contain some used parts.

Didnt ask about the software with it but if I find out will post.
#23
thanks for your reply and help, just ordered one.will let you know what its like

#33
got 1 of these the other week great comps but battery life is only 2 hrs max mine would only go for 1.30 hrs if useing in the home unplug the battery
#34
Managed to get me one, made me late for work though.

Been after a cheap laptop for a while now, thanks.
#35
wow - I bagged one of these yesterday and it arrived this morning - less than 24 hours!! This is for my daughter who has been desperate for a laptop for ages (shes planning on uni next year) and she is going to be well chuffed; its looks brand spanking new and even has a 'shiney' screen (rather than the usual 'flat' tft) - and all for £285 (including quidco and cc cashback) - I've had a few bargains from this site but, on initial viewing, this could be the best - many many thanks to MikeT for spotting the re-availability of this:-D
[mod]#36
We just love it when a plan comes together dont we:thumbsup:

Glad your pleased with it and thanks for the feedback:)
#37
Thanks to Mike, this was a great buy. I ordered one for my dad as soon as the deal went up, they haven’t shipped it yet though, I hope it turns up.

It’s a great spec for the price, after the various vouchers and cash back it’s less than £290 which is ludicrously cheap.

Packard Bell P.Cs are pretty good in my experience as well. I have one of their desktops and it’s a decent machine.

Well we have spent the evening removing/installing software and generally making the laptop look and run how we want it (ignored prompts to aol and norton for example) - all seems to be working fine - the 'shiny' screen certainly makes dvds look even better (the provided software even allows for a 'picture capture' from the dvd - very nifty for setting great wallpapers from your favourite movie) - only downside so far is realisation that there is no word or spreadsheet (managed to dig out an old copy of 'works 2001' for the time being...) but so far its mighty fine - we now have 3 laptops in the house (4 when the eldest comes home from uni) and this is easily the best and cheapest - happy days. Good luck to everyone else waiting for a delivery....
[mod]#39
You really dont need works or even MS office, just download the free open office suite which is compatable with office. Its a megga bargain as it cost nowt and is really good!
