Paint Shop Pro X2 - about £17 ($35 USD) £17.50

This is quite a nice one. You can purchase a license key, giving you the full version of Paint Shop Pro X2, direct from Corel's website, for $35 (about £17.50). All you need to do is pretend you're American for 10 minutes. But with a UK credit card.

Okay, pay attention, here's how to do it !!

Log into the Corel website.
If it prompts you for your country, say that you're a US customer.
Then, click on the "Store" icon.

The clever bit....
Instead of adding PSP X2 to your basket, click on the link for one of their other products. Perhaps, click on the "Buy now!" button for "VideoStudio 11.5" instead.

On the next screen, say that you want to purchase the license key for that instead. (Confused yet ?)

Now, when you do this, a new screen appears, asking if, perhaps, you'd like to purchase "Paint Shop Pro X2" for the special price of $49.99 at the same time. At this point, click on Add to Cart.

Your cart now shows two products (and probably a few freebies they've thrown in), and a ridiculous $7.99 "Download insurance" product which you should remove (click on the dustbin icon).

Now, remove the "VideoStudio 11.5 Plus Download " from your cart, leaving just "Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 - Exclusive Offer " priced at $49.99.

Now, you can add a $20 discount voucher - either PSPP20GIFT or BONUSBUCKS20, and the price drops to $29.99. When you checkout, tax maybe added, which'll add about $7 to the price.

Voila, the full version of Paint Shop Pro X2 (in downloadable form, with no printed manuals) for about £17. And it comes with a free $30 eBook, which wouldn't have been included in your order if you'd told the Corel website that you were a UK citizen.

It's a good version aswell, the colour change feature is fab, and this is the first version i've really used & liked since PSP7.

Enjoy!

Well, it shows that it can open .cdr (CorelDraw Drawing) files.
Is this what you were looking for ?

sounds a good deal to me, though for what I need it for GIMP usually does.

You can also get VideoStudio 11.5 Plus for $39.99 using the same method; it seems to be £50 - £55 at play.com etc.

Did you actually make a purchase? I'm wondering if it allows non US based credit cards to be used when you select USA!

Are you adding "Paint Shop Pro X2" when it's first shown in the Store page, or did you follow my instructions to add something else first, and then add "Paint Shop Pro X2" as an additional item ?

http://www.pocketpctoolkit.com/PSPx2.JPG

That $49.99 price (which you can use the $20 voucher on) only pops up if "Paint Shop Pro X2" is added as an additional special-offer item to your order.

Yes, I used my UK Smile VISA card (although I'd said I was a US customer !) and it worked a treat.

1 Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 - Exclusive Offer Download $49.99 USD $49.99 USD
-$20.00 USD
Discount -$20.00 USD
Subtotal $29.99 USD
17.5% $5.25 USD

Total $35.24 USD

Seems to add VAT once you've selected a UK home address...still a bargain though!

I took it to the checkout and it accepted a UK address but it did add $7 sales tax. So $47 in total which comes to about £25 - £26 with the dollar being much stronger at the moment.

That's odd.
I wasn't charged any tax at all.

I just had the $49.99 USD total, then applied the $20 voucher to it, giving $29.99 USD.
That's all I had to pay.
#12
did you put in a uk address

Is it legal to declare you live in the US when you actually live here in the UK? Pricing is usually different for Europe, especially here in the UK (did you say ripp-off?), even and particularly for software (Photoshop CS3 was launched at over twice the US price here, although it doesn't cost them a thing to make the download available to UK customers).
Not sure how it works, but I wouldn't want to pay for an illegal licence, then I should as well just download a pirate copy... Does anybody know?
#17
When you place your order you have to select your home address to make sure your payment can be authorised...I did that and it's added VAT to my order and the receipt has Corel's GB VAT number on it as well. That suggests to me that their system accepts orders from the UK, just like we can choose to purchase from Amazon.com over .co.uk should they be cheaper for something :whistling:

Good deal, i buy now, hot

Pay... or get it for free.

I think the problem with that option is the lack of legality
#20
so any ideas why mine is trying to charge me $58
#21
You can also get WinDVD 9 Plus for $70.49 with VAT which is about £39 compared to £59 from the UK website. Good for Blu-ray & HD-DVD playback and it supports Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD.

Have you tried using both codes? The bucks one didn't work for me, but the psp one did
#23
still get tax but at $35 cannot be bad can it
#24
There was a hot deal a week or so ago where WHSmith were selling off the previous version at £18, so no, not bad at all!

Out of interest, I cleared my cookies, and tried to do exactly the same technique, this time saying I was a UK customer.

Although they do offer you a small discount on buying "Paint Shop Pro X2" as a second item, it still ends up costing £49.99. Neither voucher code works, and you don't get that $30 eBook included in the order. It really is a rip-off.

Btw, I write and sell software on my own website, and charge the same price to my customers regardless of where they are in the world. I have absolutely no problem in "abusing" Corel's website, to get the same price that they're charging their US customers...
#26
I also found that after creating my Corel account and stating my address as in the UK, that my prices changed to UK sterling and overall cost to £49.99.
However, by deleting everything from my basket and then changing back to the US site and going through the steps again, it worked, as this time I was already logged in.

So basically, if you're showing £50, simply empty your basket, switch back to the US site and start again

I’d hardly call it abuse as they clearly accept UK addresses when paying in dollars.

If you pretend to be a yank then wouldn't telling porkies invalidate the license?!?

If you type in a UK address in what way are you pretending to be American?

Nope, never told them I lived in the States, just went to the US website...and:

.13 ELIGIBILITY:
To be eligible to Use or download the Product you must be in compliance with applicable export laws. You may only download, install and/or Use the Product if: (i) you are not a citizen, national or resident of, and are not under the control of, the government of: Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, nor any other country to which the United States has prohibited export; (ii) you will not download or otherwise export or re-export the Product, directly or indirectly, to the countries mentioned in clause (i) nor to citizens, nationals or residents of those countries; (iii) you are not listed in the United States Department of Treasury lists of Specially Designated Nationals, Specially Designated Terrorists, and Specially Designated Narcotic Traffickers, nor are you listed on the United States Department of Commerce Table of Denial Orders; (iv) you will not download or otherwise export or re-export the Product, directly or indirectly, to persons on the lists mentioned in clause (iii); and (v) you will not Use the Product for, and will not allow the Product to be Used for, any purposes prohibited by United States law, including, without limitation, for the development, design, manufacture or production of nuclear, chemical or biological weapons of mass destruction.

As far as I can tell above I'm eligible!

You can save yourself an extra few pence (£1?) by paying in Canadian dollars instead. With the currencies being so close they seem to offer USD=CAD but the actual rate is 1 CAD = 0.951868 USD - so if I read that right you're saving nearly 5%!

PS: They did add the 17.5% when I entered a UK address though.
#32
Hi How do u get the 30 day free demo?
#33
Tany, you don't actually need it. I've just made it through to checkout with skipping that step.

I just created my account when I went to "Secure Checkout" after adding everything (including the voucher) to the cart.

Out of interest, if you do go for this deal, can you post a reply on here saying:

- how much you were charged (in $ USD)
- what full versions/eBook's you received

I'm just wondering if Corel has changed something since I bought my copy.

I paid $29.99... not a cent more... and received:

Paint Shop Pro X 2 + a license key

An eBook: "GETTING STARTED WITH PAINT SHOP PRO PHOTO X2 BY LYNDA.COM", which they say is worth $30.

Nik Color Efx Sampler - haven't installed this yet.

MediaOne Plus for Paint Shop Pro Photo Download
Strangely, this last item is also sold on their website, it requires a license key, but they didn't give me one, so I'm wondering if it's just a demo they've thrown in, to try to get me to spend more money !

Do u know if this works on a Mac?

Just done it, if I may offer a slightly cut down way of doing this from the original:

Okay, pay attention, here's how to do it !!

Click the "Go To Deal" link.

Change your country to USA.

Instead of adding PSP X2 to your basket, click on the link for one of their other products. Perhaps, click on the "Buy now!" button for "VideoStudio 11.5" instead.

On the next screen, say that you want to purchase that instead.

Change the currencty to Canadian dollars for another wee discount.

Go to "Secure Checkout" and create a new account.

Pay via PayPal or Nationwide Visa to avoid foreign currency charges. I think the Nationwide gives a better exchange rate, but by using a UK billing address you add VAT to your order. I don't know if it's possible to give a US billing address and pay by PayPal and avoid VAT altogether, but they'll probably add local sales tax or something anyway, I don't know.

Voila, the full version of Paint Shop Pro X2 (in downloadable form, with no printed manuals) for about £17. And it comes with a free $30 eBook, which wouldn't have been included in your order if you'd told the Corel website that you were a UK citizen.
