Palit GTX 970 4gb JETSTREAM @ Dabs FREE GAME £259.99 inc delivery + 2% Quidco

£259.99 @ Dabs
Free copy of farcry 4/ the crew or AC unity so better than amazon's offering. The jetstream model has superior cooling and is an OC version compared with the standard Palit model.

Wow. Looks like I'll be upgrading within the next few months for sure with prices like these!

Good price for an awesome card, specially inc free game
#4
Nice & tempted .

IN the market for new card and was waiting for decent deal on gtx 970, had my eyes on MSI Twin Frozr - but can't find any at that price , with a game included. SO defo HOT.
But maybe prices will start going down now?
#6
Good price but flubit has given me an offer for £273 for the gigabyte G1 edition - I'm guessing, without a game. Not sure which one to go for.

Games are fleeting... GFX cards are for a year or two...

Hot. Now this I'm tempted by, I was considering the GALAX black Infinity from ocuk

Wish I had the money! Desperate for an upgrade.

Amazing price for that card heat added!

Careful of the coil whine with the 970s

The 960 is inferior to the 970, why wait?

The 960 will be cheaper......

Also there is currently a massive performance gap between the 760 and the 970. 960 will fill this gap

I went with the EVGA GeForce GTX 970 Superclocked ACX 2.0 Cooler 4GB Nvidia (Maxwell) PCI Express Graphics Card

Do you think when 960 is out, 970 will be cheaper?

Not likely. The 960 fills the lower price point like the 760 before it at the sub £200 price point:
980 - £450-£550
970 - £250-£300
960 - £150-£200

Looking forward to seeing the benchmarks though, new architecture on board and could make an interesting choice if you are after low power consumption - supposed to just be needing a single PCI-E power connector.
#17
Heat added.
I also hear not only is 960 en route but also a 980 Ti/Ultra which is basically a higher clocked 980 with 8GB of RAMs.
It's not going to be cheep tho. ..
#18
I think I will go for 970, not really after low power consumption, just power of GPU. My 660 is not coping to well with new games, with higher details settings

My 560 is starting to struggle too. I guess 3 years and a half years is a long time to have a graphics card for.

Actually prices for all the cards I'm considering have been static long term, or slowly climbing over the last few weeks. But fingers crossed. I can afford to wait, regardless.

I'm most sold on the MSI Twin Frozr, which has been available a few places for 269.99, but I can't seem to get it under 280, now.

Good deal, looking into it because I really need a new GPU, but has anyone used Dabs before? Absolutely abysmal reviews about them on trust pilot.

Flubit is giving me 263.99 for the msi based on the ebuyer price on Saturday (without a game code presumably). Not sure which to go for.
#23
cheaper on amazon but without the free game
#25
I ordered this from Flubit 2 days ago for £241 ... Worth a try

Great review for this card too, small form, quiet and overclocked

That's not the same card is it? Picture in the review shows the stock Palit 970, not the Jet stream edition.

Yeah, the potential for lack of game code via flubit has me discounting that option. I actually really want FarCry 4, but I'm putting off buying it while I'm likely to get it in a bundle.

Nope, this is the equivalent on Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Palit-GeForce-JetStream-Graphics-Express/dp/B00NPRH4B8/ref=sr_1_sc_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1419870940&sr=1-1-spell&keywords=Palit+970+jet+stream

I went for ebuyer, for that exact reason, bad reviews and bad previous experience. They run out of games codes unfortunately. This offer is till end of Jan, but I guess suppliers will start running out of those vouchers really soon and they will not get any more.
I wanted MSI but it is still bit more expensive and both cards are silent in idle (fans do not start till 60 degrees).
Hopefully arrives tomorrow.

Do you all think it's worth upgrading from a GTX 760 to this?
#31
Does anyone know if this card is over clocked? And what's the difference between a stock palit 970 vs the jetstream edt.
#32
Yes, this one is OCed

Stock clocks: Base Clock : 1051MHz / Boost Clock : 1178MHz

This card Base Clock : 1152MHz / Boost Clock : 1304MHz

I'd suggest spending the extra £15 and getting the Jetstream, it's quiet and OC's like a beast.

Also 2% TCB/Quidco

Are there any games you cannot max and play at the resolution you want to?

If not, then stay with what you have.

If there are then buy buy buy :)

How does it compare to the MSI version in terms of clock speed, cooling and noise?

finally taken the plunge going from 560ti. looking forward to cranking games back up to full what's the point otherwise ;-)
#38
Bit of warning, you need bigger PSU than 500W. I had one and it was not enough. Now with 650W and it is all dandy.

Card is very quiet and gives quite good performance.
#39
got mine for £217 from flubit :p
#40
So very tempted. My 285 GTX is starting to show it's age after 4 years of faithful service and that cost me about the same back then. I think this would be a worthy upgrade to hopefully last me another good few years until the rest of rig is hopelessly out of date :)
