Both the MSI Gaming X GTX 1070 and The Palit 980ti score an average of 86FPS @ 1080P but the Palit 980ti is far cheaper!

BOOM! I think :-D

Aye it may be competing at the mo but it's gonna turn into the same sketch as what happened with the 780ti and 980. Originally the 780ti out performed the 980 but then as the drivers progressed, so did the performance for the 980. It's Nvidias way of getting you to buy their best cards... Annoyingly. This is what happened with my poor 780ti lol.

I have a feeling this will get spammed. Despite being fulfilled by Amazon, the seller (GenesisBowelMovement) doesn't have a great feedback record, and of only just >100 responses.

Seems like a decent deal though.

soooo tempting

Excellent deal and if I had the money I would bite. Yes I'd prefer the 1080 but the price different is huge right now.

Saw that price. It says the card is from Kazakhstan?

12 hours a day gaming? I'd be lucky if it was 2 hours a day 3 days a week! Not exactly gonna break the bank is it?

I hope not? The one i got was was an Amazon warehouse deal. Said it had some small marks but i've heard that quite often when they turn up they are brand new! Fingers crossed!

I just wish I could do that:p. Good price on your card if it is an Amazon warehouse deal. Happy gaming!

Back ordered 24th August

Edit; and I hate to be that guy but yes, the 1070 is better, you have picked one game with a fully mature card vs an immature card. Not to mention the two reviews put the 980yi @ 66ps and 1070 @ 67fps at 1440p.

But this is a good deal.

except the 780ti died because of its limited amount of VRAM. It made it basically useless at any resolution higher than 1080p.

The 980 Ti is a beast at 1080/1440 and unless 4K becomes the norm overnight the the card isn't going any where!

Surely then it must be "Very Nice" rather than "Very Good"?

Then you over-clock the 1070 and it laughs at the 980 Ti. 1070 is still better value and will pull away even more with driver updates.

Sure, but it's around £100 more expensive. So I would expect it to be a little better ;-)

Yes it might be on par performance wise with the 980ti at this current time, but the 1070 has a newer architecture which will benefit direct x 12 games. As nvidia drivers mature the 980ti will become a lot more buggy as the new generation cards will be prioritised, it will fall far behind the gtx 1070 in terms of performance/fps. Plus 2gb extra ram, less power required and to top it off it sounds no way near as noisy as a gigabyte gtx980 ti g1.... that card sounds like an airplane, oh and also far less heat :)
#29
once the drivers mature for the new series of cards you will see bigger gaps in performance 100%. Spend the extra cash and futureproof why don't you

It took me less than a minute to find a 1070 in stock that I can buy now for £40 more than this so where do you get your £100 difference from? ;)

Another minute and here are two more in stock at the same price:

I probably wouldn't buy at this price.. but it's worth keeping an eye out on the warehouse deals as the 980 ti prices drop... That's where the deals will be..

Nice try, but the 980ti overclocks way better than the 1070. Instead of looking at just the clock speed try using some basic math and look at the percentage gain form OCing. Stock 980 TI is 1075 boost and typicaly reaches 1450-1500 (35-40% OC) and the 1070 stock is 1683 and typically reaches 2000-2100mhz (19-25% OC)

Isn't going to pull away much more than you're seeing now in DX12 titles now as well because Pascal core design is similar to Maxwell, so most optimizations will benefit both cards except Maxwell will maintain a small deficit in DX12
