Noticed these at the counter of my local store today and seems like a cracking price given what you are made to pay in some high street chemists.

Panadol are the best form of paracetamol in my opinion and get rid of headaches and migraines really quick.

Panadol ActiFast is based on a unique paracetamol formulation which gets to the source of pain at least twice as fast as standard paracetamol tablets

Not much else to say really, 14 tablets for 99p must be a bargain so its worth picking some up on your next visit at this price.

Enjoy;)

(well dont eat them like sweets, enjoy getting rid of your headache i mean)

Panadol ActiFast are fast acting tablets containing the active ingredient Paracetamol 500 mg.

The tablets are capsule shaped and are marked with a 'P' on one face.

What do Panadol ActiFast do?
The tablets contain paracetamol which is an analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (helps to reduce body temperature when you have a fever). The tablets have been specially formulated so that when you take 2 tablets at a time with half a tumbler of water (100 ml) the paracetamol is absorbed into the bloodstream at least twice as fast as from standard paracetamol tablets you can swallow and so gets to the source of pain fast. If one tablet of Panadol ActiFast is taken the speed of pain relief is no faster than with standard paracetamol tablets. The maximum speed of pain relief is obtained on an empty stomach.

What are Panadol ActiFast used for?
Panadol ActiFast is for fast pain relief of headaches, including migraine and tension headaches, toothache, neuralgia, backache, rheumatic and muscle pains and period pain.

They also relieve sore throat and the feverishness, aches and pains of colds and flu.

How to take Panadol ActiFast

Adults, including the elderly and children aged 12 years and over. Take 2 tablets with half a tumbler of water (100 ml) every 4 hours as required.

* Do not take more frequently than every 4 hours
* Do not take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours
* To obtain the fast action pain relief, the dose must be 2 tablets and must be taken with half a tumbler of water (100 ml). For maximum speed of action this should be on an empty stomach.

Do not give to children under 12 years of age.

Do not exceed the stated dose.

If symptoms persist consult your doctor

Twice the speed of what?

1 minute compared to 2 minutes?
15 seconds compared to 30 seconds?
1 millisecond compared to 2 millseconds?

What are the figures?

Get real?

Does 15 seconds really matter? You spend more than that time getting the tables out.
Remember, if you have to dissolve a tablet you have to wait, you don't wait when you swallow a tablet. You have to wait until it dissolves in your gut. That does not take long!

Why pay 4x-5x the price for a brand name?

Some people are "thick"!

Ask your pharmacist.

Hey i am only quoting what is mentioned on the back of every packet.

No i am not thick and yes these work really well.

If your going to comment please put something worth reading in furute instead of moaning about something that frankly nobody is bothered about.

These are a fast acting way to get rid of headaches and i use these along with Panadol Extra to relieve the stress of 4 night turns.

Just keep your thoughts to yourself unless you have something useful to contribute.

In the US, you can get a bottle of Paracetamol (called acetaminophen there) with hundreds of tables for a few bucks. But with the nanny-government here, you can only buy 7 or 14.

Of course if the price of paracetamol is really an issue for you, you may have a serious problem.

Have you analysed the medical data or the independent studies?
Where are the results that prove that these work much faster than generic paracetamol or generic dispersible paracetamol? How much faster? Milliseconds or hours?
Does it occur to you that the active ingredients are the same as generic paracetamol? People on the forum may want to know these are a waste of money. Why pay 10 times the price for the same active ingredients? Hence the posting is highlighting how ignorant the public can be. If you don't like the posting, ignore it. Not everyone is so "thick" they blindly accept claims without quantifying the exact meaning.
Pharmaceutical companies make massive profits through the ignorance of "Joe Public".

Perhaps everyone should by a Ferrari as it accelerates from 0-60 faster than family cars.
But does the extra 5-10 seconds really matter? It's an analogy.

As for Panadol Plus, these are not just paracetamol, so you cannot compare the products.

Well they work for me if its so hard for you to understand.

I'll leave you to spend your precious time dissecting every minor detail to do with this product.

They work for me as well as a lot of other people i know, and better than the tesco's own ones so this is all the proof i need.

If they work for someoen better than other paracetamol then i cant see where your argument comes in. Why not contact Panadol and see what they have to say.

99p for 14 tablets hardly seems like a rip off.

I would assume it's all relative due to drugs affecting each person in different ways.

Looks like someone has a headache! :whistling:

According to this study ordinary Panadol tablets take 45 minutes to get to maximum concentration of paracetamol in the blood. Effervescent (dissolvable) tablets take 27 minutes. If time is critical, effervescent tablets represent better value.

To clarify, our “nanny-government here” says paracetamol can only come in packs of up to 16 outside of a pharmacy however up to 100 tablets can be sold at once. You won’t find anywhere other than a pharmacy who would be willing to sell that many though. Interestingly, effervescent tablets have no maximum amount that can be sold and can come in pack sizes up to 30 outside a pharmacy.

Most pharmacies will not sell 100 tablets either.
Best is to go to Tesco self-service checkout and see if they all go through (Asda flag up more than 2 packets), if not undertake multiple transactions at the self-service checkout. No human intervention. Great!
