I've decided on this telly for my father-in-law and I'm currently hunting down the best price too.

This is the panel only though at this price. I'm looking for the PED which is available from John lewis for £99 before codes and quidco.

Dunno why this is cold though, it's a decent enough price with the 5% off.

Don't forget 3% Quidco Cashback too.

EDIT: See my post here about getting the best price for the TH37PX70PED.

Jake - I was gonna go for the 37" version, but opted for the 42" in am glad I did. There was less than £100 difference in between the sets, and the 42" screen is much better!

Don't forget Quidco will price match Empire Direct or Richer Sounds (just to name a couple!).

I got the PED version, and now wish I had spent it on a different stand!

Hi Nat,

Thanks for your comments.

I already have a Panasonic TH42PX600PED, which unfortunately developed a fault (blue line permanently on the screen) after 11 months. It's with the repair men now (2 weeks already) and I'm stuck watching my son's 26" Sony CRT!

The 37" is for my father-in-law. He couldn't put a screen any bigger where he wants it.

I think you got mixed up in your post. Quidco don't price match. I guess you're referring to John Lewis? I hear now that they'll only price match stores within 8 miles of one of their shops?

LOL - yeah, was early, I meant John Lewis! Where are you based?

Empire Direct Bolton is within 8 miles of JL Trafford Centre, and Richer Sounds Stocport is within 8 miles of both JL Trafforcd Centre and Stockport.

However, I didn't think this was coming in until the New Year?

Great Info, thanks Nat.

Might try the PM with Bolton ED/Trafford Centre JL because the father-in-law is keen on the 5 year guarantee.

EDIT: I'm based near Newcastle.

I hope it's as the crow flies, becasue it's a midgies d!ck under 8 miles according to Autoroute 2007. Disance by road is just over 10 miles.

It's a bit irrelevent now anyway as ED are offering a free 5year warranty if you join their loyalty card scheme for £20, which makes them cheaper than JL.

I also read some very interesting stuff on the Guardian website about how goods should be covered up to 6 years by the Sale of Goods act, rendering extended warranties a farce! The article is here should anyone be interested? Also, the small claims court can help in cases where the retailer is being stubborn, another good article can be found here.
