Doesnt really matter that its 720p, but its 100hz!!! Definately HOT. Panasonic make some of the best tv's out there
#2
I think this came top of What Hi-fi's yearly LCD/ Plasma tests earlier in the year.

Good price but go for the 42" if you can. within weeks you'll be used to the size and wished you'd bought the 42" ;-)

hot but you can get it cheaper and with a 5yr Panasonic warranty if you buy in-store here

Great TV. It may only be 720p but the overall PQ is much better than my parents 1080p Samsung LCD. Gives a great picture with Sky, Freeview, PS3 and DVD.

Crikey, £489 + 5yr warranty at Roy Jowett in Colne. That's not far from me. Might have to pay a visit at the weekend!

I think 37" is probably enough. No way wife will go to 42"...considering our current flatscreen CRT is only 28"

Exactly the boat I was in...buy this and you won't be disappointed, SD is terrific, Wii and Xbox 360 are amazing, the football is great and even Eastenders is an improvement.
Got to keep the OH onside, but that price should leave a little spare for her Christmas present :-D

It's amazing but my 40" Sony looks less significant than my old Panasonic 28" CRT. My mum was also dead set against a large screen (she at this time had my Panny) but I found them a 42" Sammy and after the initial shock she finds it less intrusive than the CRT. I'm sure it's a combination of the depth and surround of the CRT makes the difference. A 28" LCD would appear alot smaller than a 28" CRT.

I also think this is a great deal but second the 42" size - it seems under 40 you eventually pine for the 40"+ like some telly crack.

Looking at a previous post
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/289982/panasonic-th37px80-plasma-screen-tv/

Only difference I can see is HDMI sockets and V-real 2 and v-real 3.

Both great sets might get one over crimbo

Ive got one and they are fantastic.Recommend them 100%

I'vegot one of these tv's great picture. You won't be disappointed if you buy one for this pice. Of course it is going to be replaced with the freesat model.
#12
just a note to say richer sounds offer this for 499 too with free stand and speakers http://www.richersounds.com/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=PANA-TH37PX80
and offer a 5 year warranty for 50 quid too.

This is a great tele. When I was getting mine, it was between this and the 1080p LCD one and the plasma was slightly better with the black colour and apart from that, there was hardly anything in it. It's a lovely tele, I'm so pleased I went with it.

Shame it wasn't £499 mind!

The only time eastenders will be improved is when they get rid of it

I've got a Panasonic Viera the same size and i guess it depends on your room size, this is plenty big enough for my house it fits nicely on the chimney breast.

A 42 would have been too big,i didn't want the tv to be the focal point but it still is anyway,so would be worse if it was 42.

Each to their own.
#16
I really want this TV, but know I will always think I should of waited for the 42"

This is very hot though

Presume one, extra £50 if you buy it from Richer Sounds for a 5 year warranty

I got mine from John Lewis a few weeks after they came out. Great TV, and I paid a couple of hundred more than that price for mine :(

Hot anyway.

yep...when i was looking for a tv i was looking at 37in and 42in tv's...after being astounded at how **** all lcd's were, i saw and immediately bought a 42in pioneer kuro.....if i went for a 37in it would have been this.....sat this side by side against pannys 37in 1080p set and the pq on theis tv was better for everything inc dvd, blu ray, sky hd and sd.....so blew the 1080p argument well out of the water...1080p is pointless on anything less than a 50in tv (even then its of minimal benefit)......1080p on under 50in tv's is akin to plonking a 6 litre 1000bhp engine in a trabant....just pointless

Might be wrong - but check that 4:3 mode doesn't do what some Panasonics does.. and that's display GREY bars at the side of the screen! Very distracting if you like your programming at it's original aspect ratio!
#27
one of the best 37"s you can get, cant recommend enough. not a bad price either

I believe it does that so that the plasma around the picture is ageing at the same rate as the plasma being use to show the picture . If it did not do this and left the area around your picture black it would after time be slighty brighter (less aged) than the plasma inside. Thats why I don't like channels that show black bars top and bottom. I've had my 42" px80 for a while now and gotta say its a great T.V. Just wish me and my ps3 could have it to ourselfs alot more! It seems to have shrunk though!

Yes it does do that.Doesn't bother me at all to be honest though.Much better than a stretched or cropped image IMO.I've watched loads of 4.3 ratio programs on mine and it hasn't bothered me at all.

You can alter how dark the 4:3 bars are in the settings, its usder "side bar" so can be set black if you prefer this.

Nope... the Mrs wanted a bigger size so I had to get a 50" one :)

I've just got the 42" version from Digital Direct with 3yr guarantee for £559 - £10.83 Quidco. Excellent TV and also pretty good on power as it runs at around 200w average.
Recommend you go for 42" if you can.

Ps. It fits further back into the corner than my 5yr. old 100Hz 28" CRT Panasonic which I was reluctant to give up on as it had such a good picture. My early impressions are that the plasma is even better.

Just out of interest, how much power did the old 28'' CRT TV consume?
#35
I have the older 37PX70 set and these tv's are the best money can buy at this price. Forget the 42' this has better PQ on SD, freeview and sky. Unless you have a massive room there is no need to go bigger.

Voted HOT.

I nearly fell for that one last week.

I bought the 42PX80B for £559 with a 5 year warranty from Sound and Vision. Richer Sounds did offer to match it with a 5 year warranty and it sounded better with the "extras". Until I checked what the speakers and stand were............ the speakers are the the in built speakers.............the stand is the pedestal that it always comes with. Basically, nothing extra at all!!

damn....all these cheap tellys and i cant get a new one till january :(

Ordered
