Not bad, but remember this isn't a full HD TV.

^lol

awesome tv

Isn't the PX80 a better model? Can be had at Total Digital for £585 with 5yr warranty if collected instore plus you don't need to be a member of Costco.

Still a good price for a Panasonic, known as one of the best.

even though i love panasonic, the picture isnt that great on this model. personally i'd go for the samsung series 4 plasma for this sort of price or pay the extra and get the panny PX80, its a much better TV picture wise and sound wise. i'd rather go for the latter

Somebody always has to get this in as a first reply :whistling:

Not a bad price, difficult to know if it's better to pay the extra for the PX80.

A thread on Avforums comparing the 2:

http://www.avforums.com/forums/plasma-televisions/839041-real-pq-difference-px80-vs-px8.html

(Not read through it yet though)

Which means SD won't look horrible on it as it does on all the 1080p TV's

good price for a good tv, heat added, ppl should know this set does not have a headphone socket! unbelievable, i have the 42px80b panny, it cost a lot more than this and even it does not have a headphone socket, you can use audio out if you have the correct cable to an external source.

Yes but the PX8 is somewhere between the PX70 and PX80. Not as nice to look at apparently and some other differences which I'm sure google will provide but this is very good if the other goes.

It will all 720P TVs will run 1080i, as the image is interlaced (As in only displaying 540 lines are displayed in each frame).

Where as 1080P (Full HD) will display all 1080 lines in each frame.

TBH you will be hard pushed to see the difference most of the time, although I prefer progressive myself having used both.

warranty only valid if you are and STAY a member of costco, according to AV forums.

I've got a relatively old 1080p set (the Sammy LE40F71) and SD looks fantastic on that.:)

SD also looks great on my folks newer Sammy 1080p set and my brothers 1080p Sony LCD.

And? Isn't the important thing that this is a very good TV for a superb price that will out peform many 1080p tv's?

Clearly not in all cases - I have two HD tvs, one 720p and one 1080p - the 1080p model deals with SD much better

Sorry but I've yet to see a 1080p TV that does SD better than a PX8/PX80

Panasonics are very good with picture quality, However this is not FULL HD and the dynamic contrast ratio isn't great either, its one of the very early models. So i would recommend that if you are going for a TV over 40 inches, and play games on it as well as watch BLU Ray (or will in future) you are better off spending a few more quid and get FULL HD, i have seen them side by side, you will notice a difference.

An excellent deal nonetheless. Heat added.

Do you work for Currys? When I went to buy my PX80 6 months ago the sales person advised against it because it was an old discontinued model!!!!!! :w00t:

(don't worry, didn't buy from there, just wanted a demo, which they wouldn't do anyway :x )

Just wanted to note that it's not an early model, it's from the last year or so, being as it supercedes the PX70. It's low end, sure, but low end panasonic is like low end TVR in plasma terms (with Pioneer being Astons!).
