seems a gr8 price for the tv alone - let alone with a free stand - have some H&R :)

What's the model number? I'm doing this off my iPhone on the bus- can't seem to click link

Panasonic Viera TX-P50U10B

Very nice.

Model number is not on panasonic web site.. I suspect its the same as S10 full HD 400Hrtz anyone know for sure?

The U's are supermarket type models.....Usually lower spec than X10's but with 1080p screens instead of 720p...So I doubt this would have 400hz sub field drivers and will normally have lost a lot of connectivity.... Not akin to the s10's in the slightest. But still a Panasonic which makes it good in its own right.

Wrong about the 400hz screen.

The U10 is very similar to the S10. It loses 1 HDMI port, VGA port and a few other bits and has no anti reflective coating on the screen (very shiny - can be distracting during day use) BUT has the 400hz subfield creation still. BUT other than that, its essentially an S10. I know, because I recently (and returned) a faulty U10 and replaced it with an S10 (they had no U10's left).

IMO I'd pay an extra £60 and get the G10 from Dixons for about £960. Anyone can get a cheapish stand for much less then £150, even if its not the same one.

I stand corrected...but not having the AF filter would be really annoying. I agree with you about the G10 or indeed the X10 if you don't need the 1080p (I'm still not sold on what difference the 400 or 600 sub frame magiggy actually makes.)

Sod all. Plasma's have naturally been like that for years - they are just competing against the LCDs and saying we kick ass, ours screen's a 4x as good as LCD - marketing blurb.

I actually have the 42" model and the deal they had on made the S10 £170 cheaper than the G10 and so the difference in picture (mainly brightness) wasn't worth the extra money. Being that the 50" U10 is £900, the S10 can be had for £912, the G10 for £960, i'd go for the G10.

For the sake of £60 IMO its a no-brainer. When its 3-4x this price (the difference as it was in my case at £170 difference), its worth a think if its worth spending extra. IMO.

I think that, somewhere in that garbled dissertation, you are telling us whether we should buy this TV or not. But, by the time we work it out, the model will probably be either obsolete or sold out. :?

I think if you are in this sort of ball park anyway then neither the S, G or U are worth it when you can get the V10 for a few hundred more...

(Obv not a 50" model as the OP)

£60 gets you a vastly better set.

Comprende? :-D

Not a bad deal if you actually want the stand otherwise the G10 is definitely worth the extra £60 from Dixons (albeit with no 5yr warranty)
