PANASONIC 50" 3D Viera Plasma TV (TXP50ST50B) for less than £900 @ Richer Sounds c/w 5 Year Supercare Warranty £899.95
Right a wee bit of jiggery pokery required here to get the TV for potentially less than £900
RS in-store price is £999.95, get them to price match House of Fraser @ £1025.10 delivered (inc 5 Year Warranty - ignore stock level warning, it's not changed in over a week)
http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Panasonic+TX-P50ST50+3D+Plasma+TV/167070871,default,pd.html?cm_mmc=Googlebase-_-Electricals-_-TV+%26+Home+Cinema-_-TX-P50ST50+3D+Plasma+TV&istCompanyId=17910aed-1bae-4362-9580-b523eb87a91e&istItemId=lqiiwpit&istBid=t
Now according to the RS price match promise they will then knock £20 off the price match which makes in-store purchase price £1005.10 (however for my deal the salesperson put my price through @ £999.95) and because the House of Fraser deal includes a 5 year warranty, RS will also give you 5 Years Supercare included in the price match (Saving you £100)
But that's not all, RS are doing a promotion until the end of this month for a FREE DMPBDT120 3D Smart Blu-ray Player worth £130 FREE when you buy this TV. Offer ends 30/06/2012.
You could easily punt for £100 un-used
And finally to squeeze the last drop out of the deal, Panasonic are doing a promo for 3 Free Bluray Discs (Ice Age 3 / Die Hard 4 & Planet of the Apes)
http://promotions.panasonic.co.uk/blu-ray/
Only problem is RS have limited stock (I got the last one in Edinburgh & none in Glasgow)
I got charged £25 delivery however I'm going to argue that the House of Fraser price was a "delivered" cost
Now be ready for the salesperson to try and take the Free Bluray Player out of the deal, stay calm, persistent and remind them of their price promise and that the Bluray player is part of the deal, that's what I did and got the deal done
Good luck

Jump to unread Post a CommentLED Tvs don't exist at this size yet and won't for ages!! (and don't quote any backlit LCDs at me please) Plasma is the king!! 8)
If only you had a clue, Plasma especially this years Panasonic ST\GT\VT range out performs anything you can throw at it at this price. The Samsung 8000s may run them close but for much more money.
Also word of warning, RS sales guy spent 20 minutes bull sh*tting me about how superior LED TVs were for motion processing, blacks etc over Plasma and particularly the virtues of LG over Samsung, Sony and Panasonic. Thought I was mad to be considering Panny Plasmas. When I pointed out that LED/LCD tend to suffer from loss of contrast off axis - he tried to say that was no longer true, until I pointed out that the latest top of range Sony they had displayed this shortcoming.

Hence the use of the word "potentially" :{

TBF to the Glasgow they said the ST50 was a steal at the price and was better than the LCD equivalents

Hi,
Saw your comments and wanted to get in touch as a result.
The last thing we would want would be to give our customers the wrong advice, or to be overly pushy, and I was therefore concerned to read your feedback.
In fact, there are pros and cons to both LED and Plasma, and which is better is down to each customer’s individual needs and preferences. However, it does sound as though on this occasion the colleague’s own personal preference has come across as over-enthusiasm towards a particular technology. Of course, Panasonic’s latest range of plasmas are fantastic, borne out by many satisfied customers, and even a 5 star What Hi Fi review!
I would also be most interested to hear from you which branch you visited so that I can take this matter up with the individual involved. Therefore please would you PM me with some further info?
Meanwhile, my apologies for any inconvenience, and please feel free to let me know if I can be of any further help.
Many thanks,
John Clayton
