Website shows them at £1272.27 (http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.203-5119.aspx) - a great deal if you can pick one up instore at £999.

Even more so if you can persuade John Lewis to match the price and include their 5 year warranty!

Sorry to be dumb but what's the difference?

Sorry to be dumb but what's the difference?

1080P displays 1920x1080 pixels of information on screen
HD-Ready only has to display 1024x720 pixels or higher (the screen you listed has 1366x768).

You will only notice a difference in picture quality if you feed the TV high-definition 1080p or 1080i content from a Blu-ray player, Sky HD, PC, XBOX360 (arguably) etc. Most people still watch Standard Definition >90% of the time so the current benefits are small.

For example, I do not notice any real difference between my 37" Panasonic 720p plasma and my 50" Panasonic 1080p plasma - apart from the screen size. Even with 1080P blu-ray, the differences are barely viable from viewing distances. If I sit 6 feet away there is a big difference, but why would I sit so close to a 50" screen?

The TV listed is a great screen for £999.
